I'm upgrading the default templates on ZBX 6.0 (upgraded from version 5) and when I'm importing network-related templates I get the message "Item with key "icmpping" already exists on "Generic SNMP"."
It could be problems with ping poller and StartTimers, try to increase both and remember to restart the zabbix server to aplly the changes of the .conf .I had problems with high response hosts when it was not pinging from CMD, and the macro was correct.I did those changes and fixed it
First of all, you must configure a firewall on the hosts you are going to monitor (allow icmp ping requests) and make sure that fping is installed and configured on your Zabbix server.
By default, the tool is installed in /usr/bin/fping. If there are any problems with fping, make sure that it is located in /usr/bin/fping. If it is in another directory, change the following lines in zabbix_server.conf by specifying the correct path to fping.
By default, there is the Template Module ICMP Ping in Zabbix. (It may have a different name depending on a Zabbix version.) We will use it to monitor network hosts using ICMP ping. The template includes 3 checks:
When monitoring a host in Zabbix using the "ICMP Ping" template, you may experience the error "ping item must have target or host interface specified" if you create the host without defining an interface (ie. SNMP, agent, etc).
First you should add a new host in zabbix agent. Then you can use either icmpping to monitor the availability of your printer or easily setup net.tcp.port[IP,PORT]. PORT here is the port opened on your printer. It can often be 515 (LPD), 9100 (for some HPs) or 80 (as many printers have an embedded web server). i have a sophos UTM9 Firewall and about 70 Ap55/ap55c i instaled a zabbix server and i want to add firewall and ap to zabbix, i searched for template and i cant find anything to work, i have Zabbix 5.0.20. Any can help me with some directions how i can do that ?
i enabled snmp v2 on firewal but i dont know what template to use ..... for ap i need to see status .. up / down and if is possible the trafic.At this moment i used a template simple icmp ping to see up down status for ap ... and that is all i can get.
i have response from AP that is working with icmp ping template, for the rest i am asking for help.... maybe a snmp simple template with autodiscovery would work in UTM i did not try it yet, Is any familiar with this subject ?
