Kaaaki currency

Hello guys,

There is a new alternate currency system being trialled called kaaaki.
I have attempted to register myself but they won't let me join until
there is at least one other person in Perth using it.

Sorry ... too hard to find out about them. Videos take too long to
load and constipate the internet! .. gimme a quick text description or
mission statement that I can speed read in seconds!
Anyone care to create a summary of what they're about so I can decide
whether or not to support them (in spite of their choking of bandwidth
by forcing people to watch movies just to sus them out!)

I just found the whole attitude a bit off-putting.  Also, they manually approve each application - and they didn't ask me where I was from, so the "one more Perth person to join first" sounds a bit suss.  Plus, it's nearly 24 hours, I haven't heard back from them, and that's not a good indicator of their future response times, so I wonder why I'd bother.  What do they do that sets them apart? (Aside from, as Trev pointed out, hogging down great gulps of bandwidth...)

I have been in e-mail contact with the guys that are creating Kaaaki
and to be honest I have no idea what it is going to be like either. It
looks like they are taking a very long time to develop it. I want to
get one of the developers to contribute to my other project
Rejuvepedia. You see he is a trained Dentist but decided to go off and
work on his own alternate currency project. I want to offer to pay him
in Kaaaki currency to help with the dental section of the Rejuvepedia
project.
