Ben,

Great work, and fast!

I use the emulator (no droid, here, too bad) and have not had problems. I am ccing Pablo and Frank, who I think have both used the ODK app on real phones, so they may have some help for you.

Thanks,

Hi Stuart,

Almost have the instructions finished. However, the first instruction after opening the PFM001 file is to “Swipe your finger horizontally on the screen to navigate. Press Menu for more choices.” The swiping doesn’t work on my Droid. Is this a problem you are encountering? Does it work on some Android phones, but not on others? I could put something in the instructions about this. Once I’m done, I’d be happy to upload this to your wiki if you have given me access. Below is what I have so far:

If you have an Android phone, you can help jumpstart the Person Finder Mobile project by testing our initial form.

1) To do this, you will first need to download ODK Collect by clicking on the link below. Before downloading it, though, make sure you allow install of non-Market applications. To do this: go to "Settings" then "Applications", then check "Unknown Sources." This will let you install ODK Collect.

2) Download ODK Collect. Read the instructions for Downloading under the Installation header. You can download from either the Android Market or from your phone's web browser.

3) Open the application. If you used the Android Market, the application should appear in your phone's application drawer.

4) Press your phone's menu button. Click on "Server Preferences."

5) Click on "Server" and enter "http://person-finder-mobile.appspot.com" and click "ok"

6) Go back to the main ODK screen you saw when you first opened the application.

7) Click on "Enter New Data"

8) Then click on "PFM001 Form"

9) You should get a screen that says: “PersonFinderMobile has been selected for entry.”

Pablo, just added you to the code project. Can you start a wiki page that documents which devices this has been tested on?

Ben, do you have a gmail address? I can add you to the code project too to create a wiki page for the documentation you have so far. This would be really helpful for the CrisisCamps happening now.

Thanks,

Hi Ben,

We had not had any problems with the "swipe feature". We've tested it on 2 different devices: the HTC G1 and the HTC Magic (myTouch). Both running Android 1.6...

Sorry :(

Great job, Ben.

Ben just posted instructions to get started testing the ODK Collect + Person Finder Mobile forms on Android:
http://code.google.com/p/person-finder-mobile/wiki/UsingthePersonFinderApplication

Does anyone know if there is a way to do screen captures from your Android of what is on the screen? We need to get screen caps of each page in the Person Finder form.

Thanks,

Try again. If you are logged into gmail with benme...@gmail.com, then reload the wiki page and try to add "New page"
