I was a sw developer a few years ago (vb/asp.nt/oracle/sql).  Am looking to get back in the business.  My other passion is finance -- so my question is:  is it worth learning kdb to merge the two or is kdb a language is a language is a language??  Thx!  Also, is this a more lucrative language vs others??  THANK YOU!!

yes! The languages q and k are a great way to expand your programming skills.

In terms of how lucrative, k/q skills combined with domain knowledge is usually what is required - see some advertized jobs here (~80-100k GBP)
or
But these salaries do vary widely - e.g. combine with quant skills for higher value.
