Dear PERSOC members,

The European Journal of Personality is seeking for paper proposals for the 2015 Special Issue on “The social consequences of personality: New insights into underlying processes”.

I invite you as renowned experts in the field to contribute an empirical paper to this Special Issue.

Personality has wide-ranging consequences for the development and maintenance of our everyday social relationships. Empirical research has established a number of effects of personality traits on social outcomes, including people’s overall social embeddedness, their everyday social encounters, the probabilities with which people choose others and/or are chosen as social partners, and the quality of ongoing close relationships. Less is known about the concrete processes underlying these effects - How exactly does personality get outside the skin and into the social partners’ minds.

The EJP Special Issue 2015 aims at enhancing our understanding of processes underlying the ubiquitous social consequences of personality. Our goal is to assemble the latest, most insightful and most creative work on personality processes relevant to explaining social consequences – thereby jointly opening the process “black box” and to move the field forward from the descriptive level (personality effects, if? what?) to the process level (personality processes; how? why? when?).

You have work in the pipeline/under way…

·        …examining social consequences of personality?

·        …looking at mechanisms underlying these effects (cognitive, affective, behavioral)?

Contribute a paper to the 2015 EJP Special issue on the social consequences of personality!

We will…

·        …provide a fast and constructive review process!

·        …present your work within a carefully selected overview of the finest international research of the field!

·        …arrange for maximum visibility of your work!

What is the time schedule?

Based on paper proposals, 5-6 empirical contributions will be selected by end of 2013. The Special Issue on the social consequences of personality is planned to be published in April 2015, so that first submissions of papers would be needed by August 2014.

How to propose a contribution for the EJP 2015 Special Issue?

Please send a brief outline (1-2 pages) of your planned contribution including a summary of research questions, participants and sampling details, designs/methods, variables, and (planned) analyses no later than December 15 2013 to mitja...@wwu.de. Also see the attached file with additional information on potential contributions and selection criteria. Don’t hesitate to ask in case you have any further questions.

Contribute your best work to the 2015 EJP Special Issue on the social consequences of personality!

Best regards,

Mitja
