PURL from OCLC

Hi,
Is there many academic institutions currently using PURL (OCLC) as their institutional repository identifier. I saw many, who are using handle systems or URL(N)s, but no PURLs(OCLC). Lastly, is anyone know how to distinguish those different identifiers through urls.
Handle system usually goes like: http://.....edu/handle/23423...
DOI usually ...edu/doi/....
BUT, what about PURL?
