Colleagues,
I'm happy to announce that Titus's excellent PhD dissertation:
Arabic type-making in the machine age:
the influence of technology on the form of Arabic type, 1908-1993
is now available for free download from the British Library.
It's digitized from print, so isn't the highest quality and has no hyperlinks,
but for such a treasure that has been unavailable to most people so far, it's
great to be available now.
There's even a chapter on "Persian type and typography", which covers the
story of the development of Mitra and Nazanin, among other things.
With no further ado, to download, navigate to:
http://ethos.bl.uk/OrderDetails.do?did=1&uin=uk.bl.ethos.627723
then create a free account and login, and order the download version for free.
The download size is ~34MB.
Enjoy!
