Hi P-C community,

We have started a new project at P-C, UDHR in Languages of Iran, and we need your help!

"""

The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) is a declaration adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 10 December 1948 at the Palais de Chaillot in Paris, France. [Wikipedia] UDHR has the record for being the Most Translated Document in the world. [Guinness] [Wikipedia] The UDHR in Unicode project is to demonstrate the use of Unicode for a wide variety of languages, using the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) as a representative text. [Unicode]

The UDHR in Languages of Iran has the goal to collect translations of UDHR in various Iranian languages and other languages used in Iran and the area, all encoded in Unicode. The collection will be used to use by the community in demonstration purposes, as well as submitted to the UDHR in Unicode project for inclusion.

"""

How can you help?

As most of you know, the UDHR has multiple translations published in Persian, some of them are a reprint of the official full-text translation, and some of them are in a simpler language and in shorter formats.

But, the situation is very different for other languages of the area. I haven't seen any translations for languages like Azeri, Kurdish, Luri, Mazandarani, Gilaki, or Turkmeni.

You can help the project by sharing any information regarding UDHR translations in any local languages of Iran and the area!

And if you are a translator, you can help with translating UDHR full text or simple text into a local language. Let us know and we will send you the resources needed to get started.

Yours,
