Connie pointed this new dictionary website to me. I have no idea which
dictionary it's based on, but I found the interface quite slick
(autocompletion, etc).

The link:
Usually it is easy to guess which country a Persian website was made in. Iranian sites very often have the Arabic Yeh and very small fonts. This one confused me as the font chosen for the keyboard made me think Germany. Then the link to "Hangman Game" made me think US. Then the ads for "Israel tourism" really sent me in another direction. Age of Globalism... Anyhow, I still don't know which dictionary it's based on, but it is definitely quite slick.

I just checked this website out -- very nice!

I selected a word that I already know (dog - sag), and got a wealth of
phrases, sentences and proverbs. What an amazing resource! I'll
definitely keep a shortcut for it.

I see that it was written in asp, apparently in a very early version.

What I did NOT get from this web site was what I need as a student --
that is, the full form. When I see "sg", I can guess that there are no
Persian words that contain no vowels, and that since the long vowels
are written, there is an "a", "e" or "o" in the word.

So, what I am looking for is a site that gives me the word exactly as
it occurs in everyday printed and handwritten Perso-Arabic script,
i.e. سگ (sg), but I also want to see the full version, with the
Harakat written in. Otherwise I won't know how to pronounce it.

I downloaded the free version of Byki for Persian, and in that
program, when you are required to produce (by typing) a given word --
you must type all the Harakat letters, including the symbol that shows
that there is no vowel between two consonants. It seems to me that if
you fill in the unwritten vowels completely, you no longer have the
need to explicity show the consonants that are adjacent. But I guess
that is a different discussion.

There are two web sites which provide pronunciations, AFAIK.  The first one is Forvo, which provides actual human pronounced words, see the below link as an example:

The other one is Dehkhoda's dictionary, which provides Harekat's for the words that it contains, see:

Hope this helps.
