Should Persian abjad start off by الف or آ?

Thanks

Is there anything as Persian Abjad? Is this an extended version of Abjad?

I am not sure myself that is why I am asking. Someone in the past told me that Arabic abjad is slightly different to Persian abjad.

I guess you just mean Abjad, and don't know anything about Persian Abjad.

Anyways, it should be Alef because the first (and most famous word) is
"ابجد" ("abjad"), not "آبجد" ("ābjad"), and this word obviously starts
with an Alef.

I think there is no difference between the two in the abjad system.
FYI, I put this together a long time ago for students.

There are small differences. For example, in modern Arabic Abjad
numbering, one sometimes sees Alef With Hamza Above (أ) or just a
normal Alef (ا) starting the list. In Persian Abjad, when you start a
list, you almost always start with the three-letter sequence <Alef,
Lam, Feh> (الف).

The other differences are Kaf and Yeh. Arabic Abjad uses Kaf (ك) and
Yeh (ي), while Persian Abjad uses Keheh (ک) and Farsi Yeh (ی).

I'm getting confused as to whether we're talking about the abjad system or just plain alef-baa, alphabet sorting order. If it's the latter, isn't it like so:
آ
ء
ا
I think this is the modern convention, anyhow. Please correct me.

Sorting order is very complex. See this for an intro:
