So no one thinks Elektra would even have a shot? Personally I'd give her (Elektra) a slight edge when you add all the little used powers she has. I could be wrong, but I just started learning more about her. As far as Shiva is concerned I know who she is, and what she is capable of. In a fight with Elektra, I'd give her (Elektra) a slight majority 5.5/10. By no means a stomp though.

Kitty Pryde if she actually used her powers in a smart way for once. Just reach in and break an artery. Or phase everything but her fingers and strangle her. Or pull her through the ground and leave her there.

You got to love that comic logic don't you. If you figure someone trying to do that it would end up hurting them almost as much. Seriously she sticks her hand into the persons body then grasps a piece. She would at least lose a hand because she fused into the body while grasping the heart. She would need to use an inanimate object to do something like that safely.

I was referring to the "reaching in and breaking something". That's why I said she would need to use an inanimate object to do so safely. Doing it like she did to Emma Frost (grasping her heart and pulling it out) shouldn't work without hurting her also.

@horus_1: Completely agree. Elektra could mop the floor with this overrated dc trash. DC and their fans overrate all of their trash starting with the queen of garbage WW. Most powerful DC woman WW vs most powerful marvel woman Phoenix= WW HUMILIATED BEYOND belief! If your top lady can't beat our top lady what hope do lightweights like shiva have. Last time I checked Elektra took out three super powered amalgamated SUPER SKRULLS. Shiva? Oh wait! She fought Batman. Big deal. The king of overrated. I'm just glad this year showed that Spiderman is and always has been the one true KING of comic superheroes. Bow batdog and supermut to your master!!!! Hahahahahaha!

@thunderingthorfan: Wow how can you hate DC so much? Don't understand how someone can have such hate for a comic company. Granted there are characters I prefer from DC to Marvel 7 vice versa but I don't hate either company.

Elektra could put up a fight in round two and three, she won't win, but she wouldn't get foderized like some others would. Round one, Elektra just doesn't have the H2H showings. No other women street levelers come to mind really.

Sandra Wu-San, better known as Lady Shiva, is one of the deadliest assassins in the world and arguably the finest hand-to-hand combatant on Earth. A prodigy in unarmed combat from an early age, tragedies such as the death of her sister Carolyn spurred her to become a ruthless killer in revenge. In time, she forgot her original goal and succumbed to her growing bloodlust, selling her skills to the highest bidder in hopes of finding worthy opponents to fight.

To this end, she bore a child, Cassandra, with the assassin David Cain and trained many of the greatest martial artists in the DC Universe, including Batman and his protgs, Nightwing, Red Hood, and Red Robin. At times, she has even become a pragmatic superhero, joining Oracle's Birds of Prey as a provisional member.

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Master Hand-to-Hand Combatant, Stealth Mastery, Body Control (Advanced; Can control various bodily functions, such as shifting her organs out of the way of lethal blows with precise muscle control), Weapon Mastery, Precognition (Can easily read her opponent's body language to predict their next move), Charismatic Persuasion

Intelligence: Lady Shiva is arguably the finest hand-to-hand combatant on Earth, with other fearsome combatants like Batman and Nightwing openly admitting their inferiority to her in a fair fight and defeating the former even as a pre-teen. Her innate talent for reading her foes' body language and keen knowledge of the human body allows her to easily predict her opponents' movements and fighting styles with a glance and incapacitate or kill them by shutting down their internal systems with several well-placed blows. Her mastery of virtually every fighting style known to man has allowed her to demolish entire squads of highly-trained combatants single-handedly, with the combined forces of the Gotham Knights headed by Batman and including Shiva's own daughter, Cassandra, proving to be no match for her. However, she is supremely confident in her abilities and rarely resorts to what she considers underhanded tactics, allowing inferior combatants to take her by surprise and underestimating techniques and equipment that were explicitly designed for use against her, easily being beaten back after Prometheus used data files of her own movements to counter her prized techniques.

Weaknesses: Normal human weaknesses, but has regularly survived situations of which would kill an average human. Shiva is supremely confident in her abilities and constantly seeks a good fight above all.

In present day Mumbai, Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor) is about to find out his true power. He falls in love with Isha (Alia Bhatt), and their courtship is interrupted by hunters looking for three Astras that can unite to give their owner ultimate power.

Shiva and Isha dance again at a children's birthday party, and the kids later join in. Afterward,, Shiva sings a love ballad, and there's also a training montage song when Shiva finds Guru (Amitabh Bachchan) so he can teach him how to use his powers.

Aside from the musical interludes and the language spoken, Brahmastra isn't any different from a Hollywood origin story. Shiva has visions of the killers hunting other Astra guardians, and he's had a supernatural relationship with fire his whole life.Advertisement

It's a fairly standard "chosen one" narrative in which Shiva fulfills his destiny, but an entertaining one, and every culture deserves its own. The Astras are macguffins like the tesseract and Infinity Stones that get the heroes into battle with the villains, but they do date to Hindu legend.

The romance contributes to the mythological aspect of Brahmastra. Every love story has the trope of instant deep passion, but Shiva and Isha's is a tad more believable as a component of epic myth.

The Astra battles are as epic as any confrontation between Marvel heroes and villains, too. The killers first try to take the monkey Astra, whose owner gracefully dodges projectiles with flips and can stand on the ceiling.

Shiva's fire powers create arresting shapes in the sky and form weapons. The spectacle can become exhausting, especially after an epic, two-hour, 40-minute runtime, but that, too, is a caveat of the Hollywood superhero genre.

Indian mythology is rich with tales of heroic deeds by humans, superhumans, and gods. These stories often draw upon the gods in the Hindu pantheon to deliver us from evil. Brahmāstra, the much-awaited Indian superhero film, is a modern-day take on such tales.

I was fortunate to watch the press release for the film on Zoom, with the director, Ayan Mukerji, and stars Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt interacting with a limited, COVID-screened audience. It was surreal to see them share their experience about the movie, and the filming of this long-awaited tale, delayed by the pandemic. The energy the romantic duo shared on stage was infectious, frequently spilling into the applauding crowd. And of course, no epic film can be complete without involving the legendary Amitabh Bachchan. I look forward to seeing him on-screen with Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni.
