Is there any way to determine the DIRECT-roku wifi password without being able to pull up the settings on the Roku, since I don't have the remote? Or any other workaround for this? Or am I just screwed?
BRILLIANT! Thank you!! I carry a small travel router to link everything while traveling so I just set its SSID & pw back to normal home ones and it worked like a charm! I had kept my travel router as a different SSID just so it would never conflict if I did try to run it at home, but I think I'll just let it keep the same SSID & pw as home from now on so I don't have to reconfigure my phone and the roku wi-fi every time.
To help us identify the issue and provide you with the best possible assistance, could you please provide a little bit more detail? For example, have you received any error messages? Walk us through the process and when did the issue occur?
I've done this several times on my own T6S and it has worked every time. Did you "forget" the Canon network on your phone first? If you didn't, try that before the reset of the camera's wifi settings.
I have a fairly new Mac Book Air and have problems getting wifi at Starbucks. It will indicate in the top bar that I am on the Starbucks network, but I never see the Accept & Connect page and cannot go to any sites because I am not actually online. Today I tried a different Starbucks and had the same problem, but I was able to go online with a different network that my computer detected--from a grocery store business next door. No problem going to a few sites as long as I used that network while sitting right in Starbucks. Has there been a change in Starbucks wifi causing a problem? Or is it a wifi problem related to the Mac Book Air? It's frustrating, because I use Starbucks wifi a lot when I travel.
* I have a macbook (Mavericks) and ever since starbucks changed their ISP from AT&T to Google, I've had a wifi connection, but never could browse the web. I never got presented with the starbucks log in screen.
Contacted tech support, they said (I can only verify for mac users) to enter "purple.com" into the web browser. This IMMEDIATELY brings up the log in screen on your web browser. I can confirm this works for chrome on mac. Haven't checked with firefox web browser yet. But this works for me every time.
If you are not doing this already, open Safari as the first online app you try when getting to Starbuck's. But before you do, make sure the WiFi is connected and give it a while (maybe 30 seconds to settle in).
I did try Safari today after not having luck with Firefox or Chrome (my usual browser). I had no luck with Safari either--but it was not the first browser I tried. I have used the trick of going to a site like Huffington Post when I don't see a Starbucks sign in window--but that didn't work for me today either. The annoying thing is that the wifi indicator in the top bar says I'm connected to the Starbucks network--but I'm not. I'll experiment with opening Safari first next time I'm in Starbucks. Thanks.
I tried many of the suggestions here and none worked on my iPhone 6 Plus. While I was doing this, I just happened to open the iPhone Chrome browser, and there it was, the Starbucks sign in form. Now that's all I do, is just open the Chrome browser.
Just to update this thread, I just bought a new Macbook Air (early 2014 edition) and I also have connectivity issues at my local Starbucks (google wifi). I'll be connected for almost an hour and then I'll notice my WiFi icon on my menu bar begin to search for a new wifi router to connect to. After several minutes it's unable to connect and I get an exclamation point on my wifi icon.
This happened to me. I've read a few forums saying this is an issue with OS and there are many long fixes, but read a quick tip to go to www.apple.com and the security window pops up - this has worked for me!
The problem with the advice to "just go to google.com" is that now it refuses to go because of the cert from the T&C page... the solution is to go to a random site (maybe such as purple.com - whatever that is) which doesn't use the Certificate validation issue.
I actually tried to go online at two different Starbucks today, and as I said in my original post, I was only able to go online using a network other than Starbucks' while I was sitting in Starbucks--the Save-On grocery store next door. This happened on another occasion in the last week or so when I was at a Starbucks located inside a bookstore (Chapters) and was only able to go online using the bookstore's network because I could not get the Starbucks network's Accept & Connect page to pull up.
You may be right, but I have had multiple browsers on my Mac devices for years and only recently have I had this problem with the Mac Air. Occasionally in the past, I have had problems accessing wifi with my older iPod Touch, but I just assume that's because it doesn't have the capabilities of a laptop when accessing a wifi network. My MacBook laptop always connected to wifi with no problems and Chrome was my browser of choice with that computer. I can't help but think that the problem lies with Starbucks method of delivering wifi OR something about the Mac Air OR the fact that it is running Mavericks which is also a change when using Starbucks wifi recently.
I recently changed internet providers and since having the new service my MP5650 won't prompt to let me enter th epassword for the wifi. I've reset my wifi, attempted to reinstall the software on my computer, and reset factory settings on the printer.
Incidentally, if you add a wifi router and this new router has not 802.11r active, it would work - and funny thing is it will work even after you remove that router (if you use same SSID and WPA2 key). But the reason behind is 802.11r disabled, not the fact you have added a router.
Not if you are using Tmobile home internet or any other service where you can not turn off the roaming feature 802.11r. I my case I just added a Wifi repeater to my network and then my printer would prompt for the wifi repeater password. Spend $20 for repeater or get a different printer.
A Solution - I don't know if this is the only or best solution but it worked for me. Go into the router, log in, and enable WPS mode on the wifi channel you want. Go to the printer and find the dialog that lets you connect wifi using WPS Pin mode. This will give you an 8 digit pin to enter into your router. This is for the Hitron - Go to the WPS section of the Wireless tab on the router and select "PIN" next to WPS Mode. This will give you a box in which to enter the PIN from the printer. On the Hitron you then select the button labeled "Start". A progress bar will appear. When it is done, you should be connected.
I also have a Hitron router and your solution worked perfectly. I thought I had tried every possible way of connecting wirelessly to the network, including connecting using the printer driver. It never occurred to me to try WPS mode, or that the router might be at fault.
I appear to have installed my wifi range extender successfully using WPS setup. I have steady green light on router link LED, also extender is listed as being connected in the routers list of connected devices, but when I try to connect any devices to the wifi extender it will not accept the password for my router.
I'm afraid if you are trying a wrong password. Please check the password from your Technicolor gateway and try the correct password. Hope, the below links can help you if you have a computer connected wireless to your Technicolor gateway.
I had already done a factory reset on my router and then reconnected all my devices to my router after first instructing them to "forget this router" before I posted my question, this can only confirm that the password is correct. The only time my password doesn't work is when I attempt to connect to my wifi extender.
Try to fully read something before you digest and respond and waste yours and others times. Wyze should implement a simple coding update to where you can edit network on an existing device. Something I feel compelled to add in any reviews of the devices I otherwise LOVE
Also keep in mind EVERY other smart device I own that is not Wyze branded all you have to do is go into settings and change the network settings, not go through the setup which takes a half hour with all my Wyze products. There is absolutely no reason it is not a simple click and type in new password except the company having a simple oversight of this or blatant neglect of ease of use which only hurts the company you are so vehemently defending.
I think it has to do with Wyze not having Bluetooth or fallback SSID broadcasting. So with your previous Wi-Fi down, the camera is simply incommunicated. I can only think about the cam communicating via sound or image recognition with the app to change the wifi. I can see why Wyze devs would pass on that hassle.
Agree with @joeyp on the disappointment with how Wyze implements this. @Tirititito is spot on. With the way this is implemented - what it actually does is create security lapses by preventing people from changing their WIFI password to accommodate good security practices.
