Bouquins est une maison d'dition franaise. Cre en 1979 par Guy Schoeller en tant que collection de Robert Laffont, elle devient en novembre 2020 une maison d'dition part entire, dirige par Jean-Luc Barr au sein du groupe Editis.

En 1976 Londres, l'diteur Guy Schoeller dcouvre l'dition du Capital de Karl Marx publi par Penguin en un seul volume la fois trs pais et trs souple, sur papier bible[1]. Ce nouveau procd de brochage qui permet de garder ouvert un livre de 1200 pages sans casser la couverture autorise l'dition de gros volumes au format poche[2]. Guy Schoeller convainc Robert Laffont, prend contact avec l'imprimeur britannique et dcroche un brevet exclusif de fabrication pour la France. La collection Bouquins est ne. Son premier titre est Une histoire de la musique, par Lucien Rebatet[3].

Guy Schoeller s'entoure de spcialistes dans chaque domaine : Francis Lacassin pour les romans policiers, Robert Carlier pour la littrature ou encore Marc Fumaroli pour l'Histoire. Jean d'Ormesson qualifie la collection de bibliothque idale de l'honnte homme [4]. Cette citation devient la devise des ditions Bouquins[1].

Bouquins compte une dizaine de salaris. La maison d'dition publie une quarantaine de titres par an, dont une vingtaine pour la collection historique, qui reprsente elle seule entre 200 000 et 250 000 exemplaires par an[7].

Aprs 2020, Bouquins reste fidle sa tradition des intgrales, comme celle de Rabelais[8] mais enrichit aussi sa collection historique avec des auteurs contemporains tels Franois Morel[9], Philippe Delerm[10], Barbara Cassin[11] et Hubert Vdrine[12].

Bouquins s'ouvre aussi aux romans, avec des auteurs comme Zo Sagan pour Braquage [Data noire][13], Jean-Marie Gourio pour 2 grammes 40[14], Erwan Barillot pour Moi, Omega[15], Tho Veillon pour Ceux de l'intrieur[16] et Ahmad Massoud pour Notre libert (prix de la Grande Mosque 2023)[17]. La maison d'dition dveloppe aussi son catalogue d'essais, avec notamment Michel Onfray pour Puissance et dcadence[18], Sbastien Bohler pour Human Psycho[19], Pascal Ory pour De la haine du juif [20] ou Guillaume Durand qui obtient le prix Renaudot-Essai pour Djeunons sur l'Herbe[21].

Bouquins dite galement la revue littraire Anne Zro, sous la direction de Yann Moix, dont l'objectif est de traiter des grands auteurs indpendamment de leur rputation, en revenant aux textes. Le premier numro est consacr Andr Gide[22].

Raphal Masson is Head Curator at the Palace of Versailles, in charge of the department of documentary resources (libraries, documentation and archives). In September 2015, alongside Mathieu Da Vinha, he published Versailles, histoire, dictionnaire et anthologie, with Robert Laffont in the Bouquins collection.

Since the primary goal is language study, it is not a priority to have the most academically accurate/rigorous translation or the most literary or "classic" translation. In other words I simply want the translation which most closely reflects contemporary French usage. In English I think the New Living Translation would be one of the best for this purpose in English, versus an older translation like King James or even NIV.

The Segond versions are more popular with Protestants, I believe. The one I use when I need to is the Bible de Jrusalem, a team effort (33 translators) that dates back to the 1950s and has been revised twice since then. It's been officially sanctioned by the Catholic Church and has the imprimatur. For a more classical one, there is the Bible de Port-Royal ( _de_Port-Royal) from the 17th century. It's available relatively cheaply in the Bouquins collection published by Robert Laffont.

Specialist of pop culture, he was member of a group which help comic books to be recognize and he coined the term "9th art". He wrote prefaces for reference editions of many authors and series for the ditions Robert Laffont. He was responsible of the Bouquins collection since 1982. He worked on authors such as: Eugne Sue, Gustave Le Rouge, Maurice Leblanc, Fantmas, H. P. Lovecraft, and Jack London. That is why he was nicknamed "the man of thousand prefaces".

Guy Schœller fonde la collection Bouquins , chez Robert Laffont, dans les annes 1970. Quelques progrs techniques ont t ncessaires pour la fabrication de ces gros livres (environ mille pages) solides et souples. Robert Kopp en 1985 propose Schœller d'ajouter aux œuvres, un appareil critique aux ouvrages dits. Ds lors, la collection devient un outil de travail pour les tudiants et s'impose dans le public universitaire.

Mais Guy Scœller et Robert Kopp, ne s'arrtent pas l, ils largissent le champ de leur collection ; ils crent les dictionnaires thmatiques.

En diteur averti, Robert Kopp explique aussi qu'aujourd'hui, les reprsentants commerciaux participant aux tudes de faisabilit, les maisons d'dition esprant produire un best-seller, si possible mondial, et la curiosit du lectorat s'tant amoindrie, publier des essais ou tout ouvrage consacre l'expression de la pense, devient plus difficile.

Mais Robert Kopp continue de publier ces ouvrages car il s'agit de transmettre la connaissance, et donc de poursuivre sa tche humaniste.

Robert Kopp est professeur de littrature l'Universit de Ble et correspondant de l'Institut. Il est par ailleurs un grand spcialiste de Baudelaire.

Daniel Rondeau, of the French Academy, is a writer and diplomat. He has published more than twenty works, including novels (Dans la marche du temps, Mcaniques du chaos), portraits of Mediterranean cities (Tangier, Istanbul, Carthage, Alexandria), autobiographical books (L'Enthousiasme , The Vineyards of Berlin, Malta Hanina), intervention books (Chronicle of Rebel Lebanon). He has received numerous awards and his books have been translated in around ten countries. Publisher, he founded the Editions du Quai Voltaire and directed the Bouquins collection at Laffont. A journalist, he has collaborated with all the major titles of the French press, notably Libration, Le Nouvel Observateur, L'Express and Paris Match. He was French ambassador to Malta and then to UNESCO. He represents the UN think tank (UN University) in Paris at UNESCO. He is also a member of the Academy of Marine Writers.

Daniel Rondeau, the new French Ambassador, is a novelist and has worked as a journalist. Between 1982 and 1985 he was the editor of the cultural pages of the newspapers Liberation. He also served as international reporter for the magazine Le Nouvel Observateur between 1986 and 1989 and became responsible for the editorial of the magazine L'Express after 1999.

He launched the book collection Quai Voltaire in 1987 and was responsible for the Bouquins collection during the past four years. He wrote various novels (Dans la marche du temps), essays, autobiographic narratives (L'enthousiasme, Les Vignes de Berlin) and numerous narratives on Mediterranean cities (Tangiers, Istanbul, Alexandria, Carthage), translated in many countries.

The new Belgian Ambassador to Malta, Jean Franois Delahaut, studied at the Catholic University of Louvain in Belgium from where he obtained a Bachelor of Laws in 1980. He furthered his studies at the City of London Polytechnic Summer School and again at the Catholic University of Louvain from where he obtained a Diploma in International Law and a Masters in Economic (Business).

His diplomatic career started in 1984 when he served as junior professional officer at the United National Industrial Development Organisation (Unido) and was assigned to the United National Development Programmes (UNPD) at the field office in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

After completing the Belgian diplomatic exams and training, he was appointed as attach at the Permanent Representation of Belgium to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva from 1992 and 1995. Mr Delahaut was then posted to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels as assistant to the director - GATT/WTO Division.

He was subsequently posted in Hanoi as counsellor at the embassy of Belgium in 1998. He served as minister-counsellor at the embassy of Belgium in Tokyo (1999 - 2003) and as minister-counsellor at the Embassy of Belgium in Luxembourg (2003 - 2005). In 2005 he was posted as counsellor and adviser to the president of the Comit Interministerial pour la Politique de Sige in Brussels.

Les admirables volumes tablis par Paul Vernire pour les Classiques Garnier jouaient ce rle depuis les annes 1960 ; le format et la politique de la collection Bouquins permettent d'offrir un choix plus large, sans aller jusqu' des œuvres vraiment compltes ....
