Ad Block Plus And Chrome

I am using adblock plus for chrome and using chrome debugger to step through the code, but whatever breakpoints i set inside most of the javascript files, the control is not getting there. I am only able to see the control going to include.preload.js. I have added the source folder to work space.
Also content script is showing only a few files and breakpoint set in inlcude.preload.js in content scripts is working, but breakpoints set anywhere else dont seem to get hit, not even if they are set in source tree.
Any pointers will be very helpful. I am struggling as I am new to this domain. If there are any books/resources to help understand the working of ad block plus better, please suggest. Thanks in advance.
Google (and other big companies) were asked to pay money by a firm called EYEO GmbH to show their ads. This firm owns Adblock Plus together with its main developer Wladimir Palant. And big player firms like Google accepted their offering.
The Adblock Plus company blackmail websites in that way: "If you don't pay us, we block all your advertisements. We have 50 mio. users and the power to ruin you." The techchrunch article doesn't go into details, but the blog articles linked above do. They fake user reviews, even whole websites, conspire with big ad firms to white-list them and block those who doesn't pay. That's criminal and I recommend you not to use this plugin anymore in any browser.
Alternatives like Adblock (without the plus) or AdGuard jumped onto the "acceptable ads" train and therefor are no longer a valid alternative. To give you an idea why they probable changed their business model, here's a quote from an article on theguardian.com regarding AdblockPlus' cash income.
Currently there are just 148 sites on the whitelist out of 777 which applied, according to a blogpost from Adblock Plus. For those which have to pay - which includes Google, Amazon and Yandex, Russia's largest search engine - the fee for not having their ads blocked is reportedly the cash equivalent of 30% of the revenue generated by showing ads.
Actually, I deactivated Adblock Plus's list in the preferences, then I downloaded the source text file (you can find the link in the prefs dialogue) and removed all lines that I didn't like (Google and Amazon).
Since I wrote a script for that task, I can do that again at any time. It's some work, but for me it's the best solution, because I still have all "non-intrusive" ads white-listed except that from Google and Amazon.
I think this works, but the lock is still in place. if i go to chrome and use ad block plus i can watch videos with no ads and no warnings. it might be an IP + browser check they are doing. ill try to test this with a VPN tomorrow ti see if i can fix it.
I have one trick to avoid ad detection, which may be a little bit of an annoying task. Here is what I found :
1 . Keep open the youtube in the main window with an account signed in, an adblocker removed,
2. Open a private window,
3. Copy the link of the video which you want to see from the main window, and enjoy without ads!
The issue is with brave,s shield. The devs need to add a custom shield setting that can be saved permanently. I use ublock origin aswell so disabling the shield on youtube wouldnt have any effect on adverts. they are still blocked.
b. To change the name - right click on the folder, look below for the "Rename" with a shield that shows Administrative privileges. Click on that to initiate a rename of the folder from Report to Report1.
3. Reinitialize self defense under settings.
4.. I took the precaution of restarting the system to allow the Kaspersky to "find everything".
I hope that this augments Igor's instructions. They do work.

Hi!! I have the same problem, with all of the navigators I use (Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Mozila) I could not navigate through internet. I was trying to do the steps for this solution but in my case I am not able to see the "Report" Folder. Therefore, I cannot change the name.

So I stumbled accross this thread after trying to diagnose an issue with Chromium and as it turned out the fix for Chromium also fixed an issue with Discord that I didnt realise was related (as in both Chromium & Discord could not access the internet.

im having same issue, but because i know my Kaspersky version is different than the other one...i formatted my pc i got hit by Redline Stealer. So i did Format all 4 drives and did clean install of everything.
im using same account from Kaspersky and the program is diferent lol?
i Mean i bought the Plus version, but by mistake it came a Pure code which gives protection up to 3 devices, which i cant even connect on my android phone i dont know why if i can use on 3 devices why cant i use on phone right?
so i only get problems using Facebook on Chrome, at least that i notice its only Facebook Page and maybe youtube takes a long time on some videos i think its not right because i got 500mb/s Fiber i can download a video game like 100gb 5min
im watching Prime video movies in 4k without any interruption on my mobile via wifi so it makes no sense.

Anyways i need help its with that problem of the Chrome not having internet...i mean makes no sense that the AV would automatically shut down the internet connection of my browser without even asking right?
im Running Now the Plus Version like before, but i got the same issue, browser consumes a lot of resources but has no connection
I go to Folder there's no Hidden files or folders with Report name...

because im using the browser here and i have no issues but after a few minutes and i go to other pages i cant use anymore. Either way i might be losing my mind after 1 weeks of dealing with a mediocre hacker...
Hello, im Using there ones...but id've seen they are safe...Could it be Guardio? i dont think so im also using it on my phone...
Chrome stops working on facebook page, i get a warning that i lost connection the page freezes a few seconds later it regains internet connection but its like this a while until the browser uses like 50/70% of my CPU and up to 20gb RAM and i close it on Taskmanager. im gonna try other browsers, but it seems tioo me that Edge is running pretty good without issues.
And im Writing you on Chrome so it seems its only on some websites and its only using 2/3% cpu and 2gb ram, Reddit its also fine
I have been doing an analyses with Adblock plus and Pi-hole. I found that AdBlock Plus have more TCP connection compare to Pi-Hole. However, the bandwidth consume almost the same between those two. I have attached the graph of my analyses. Yes, it showing a different behavior between the test case. But i need to investigate why TCP connection is more on Ad-block plus but less in Pi-hole. Anybody know the reason for this.
It is as @RamSet already said: With AdBlock Plus, the page is first loaded and then content is selectively removed/hidden/etc. However, it has been downloaded and would also be displayed if the browser plugin wouldn't hide it.
In contrast, with Pi-hole, requests to ad serving domains aren't even answered so your browser is not even able to establish TCP connections with the ad providers and - instead of getting hidden - the ad content is not even downloaded, i.e. also doesn't consume any bandwidth in transmit.
Thanks for the explanation. I agree with you. here is my analysis result. I found that Linux and Windows Os have different number of http request and tcp. But not for Pi-hole(http request). is it because Linux and Windows TCP stack or browser environment caused it different ?
Okay, then this is strange. The browser is the origin of the requests and the system shouldn't be able to have an influence here. Thinking about it, it may something completely unrelated to your testing (background operating system telemetry). Try letting both systems run for a few hours without the browser started (leave all apps that were open active) and compare the results which should be zero for both in an ideal world.
I have done it 3 times in each test. it seems like, all test give different number of result. For packet filtering, i filtered it by time frame and excluded all packet accept for tcp.port==80 and http.
Had the same problem using Safari, Chrome and Duck Duck Go. Just a blank screen. Then I went into Safari Privacy settings and unchecked Prevent cross-site tracking and Hide IP address and Citi authorization worked like a charm.
Same problem, but is now working. To fix this, I shut off both my privacy tools (in my case Ghostery and Ad Block Plus). I was then immediately able to reauthorize and that page was no longer blank. My browser is Chrome.
Looks like they may have fixed it. Had same problem. Didn't work but kept trying with NO CHANGES to the browser, keyboard shortcuts, etc. Last night I decided to try with the shift-refresh hack. Tried one last time without any changes and it worked fine. Dumping my bookmark on this thread since I am tired of the hundred emails.
