The weekend will kick off with cloudy skies and warmer temperatures before severe thunderstorms will pass through on Saturday night.

Then, a system on Sunday will bring a high likelihood for a chance of damaging winds and even a possible tornado.

Phillies place Harper, Schwarber on 10-day injured list

A bullet moves faster than the speed of sound, so it’s not actually possible to dodge one. If it was, though, the Phillies would be pretty good at it by now. They’ve had plenty of practice.

The latest examples came Friday afternoon when it was announced that first baseman Bryce Harper (left hamstring strain) and designated hitter Kyle Schwarber (left groin strain) have been placed on the 10-day injured list.

Johan Rojas was recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and Kody Clemens returned from his rehab assignment with the IronPigs and was reinstated from the IL. Both started against the Marlins, Rojas in center and Clemens at first base.

A beloved landmark in Center City Philadelphia is shining bright with new lights

Philly is lighting up in a big way by getting a brand-new set of lights.

For years there have been short-term illuminations of City Hall’s façade for the public to enjoy.

In 2004, Center City District (CCD) installed façade lighting around the City Hall’s exterior to illuminate the building.

Martin Mull, actor who starred in ‘Roseanne' and ‘Two and a Half Men,' dies at 80

Martin Mull, whose droll, esoteric comedy and acting made him a hip sensation in the 1970s and later a beloved guest star on sitcoms including “Roseanne” and “Arrested Development,” has died, his daughter said Friday.

Mull’s Daughter, TV writer and comic artist Maggie Mull, said her father died at home on Thursday after “a valiant fight against a long illness.”

Mull, who was also a guitarist and painter, came to national fame with a recurring role on the Norman Lear-created satirical soap opera “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman,” and the starring role in its spinoff, “Fernwood Tonight.”

Woman shot, killed inside Kensington home, Philly police say

An investigation is underway after a woman was shot and killed inside a home in Philadelphia’s Kensington neighborhood on Friday.

The 59-year-old woman was shot once in the chest inside a home along the 3400 block of Crystal Street shortly after 1 p.m., police said. The woman was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead at 1:44 p.m.

Man shot several times, killed in Philadelphia on Saturday, police say

A man is dead after a shooting in Philadelphia on Saturday night, according to a spokesperson with the police department.

The shooting happened just before 8 p.m. on the unit block of North 52nd Street, police said.

The man was shot multiple times throughout his body, according to police. He was taken to a nearby hospital by officers where he was pronounced dead.

Drivers urged to stay alert for turtles on Jersey Shore roadways

Heading to the shore anytime soon? You might want to slow down on the roads and be on the lookout for wildlife.

It’s been a very active nesting season for diamondback terrapins and they are constantly at risk of getting hit by cars as they try to cross busy roads, according to experts.

The Wetlands Institute just outside Stone Harbor is among several groups along the Jersey Shore that deploy turtle patrols on busy roads. They look for terrapins at risk and move them out of harm’s way.

Driver carjacked at gunpoint while getting gas by man wearing mask in Del., officials say

A man getting gas was carjacked by a person with a gun on Friday night, according to the Delaware State Police.

Just after 10 p.m., troopers were called to the Sunoco gas station located at 285 Christiana Road in New Castle for reports of a carjacking incident, officials said.

Once they made it to the station, they found that a 24-year-old man was pumping gas for a Chevrolet Malibu when a man wearing a mask approached him, officials said.
