You can program your security system using a laptop or other computer and Solution Link software. A 56k modem can be used for remote connections, enabling dial-up connections to any Solution 16-Plus, 16i, 64, 144, or 6000. The alarm can be controlled, and you can modify all or some of its programming.
You can also use a Direct Link Cable to connect the installer directly to the control panel at the job site. Downloading simple orders or repetitive information to any of your systems on-site can save hours of time.
Thanks Johnty.
I am also interested in how you do your serial connection to Bosch Alarm. Would you mind email me the instruction on how to set up serial communication to the Bosch alarm system? my email is dcvu88 at gmail.com. Many thanks
A while back, Bosch did release a plug-in for Vera Controller. Please go to the URL below and download the ZIP file (at the bottom of the page). There is a file in that ZIP file L_BoschSolutionAlarmPanel1.lua which has what you are looking for. Hope it helps!
Vera Controller Setup Guide for Solution 2000/3000 (version 2.0) Currently Vera Controller has two different models: Vera Edge and Vera Plus. This setup guide applies to both of them. 1. Setup Static IP address for IP module(B426-M) or 3G...
where aa through hh represent keystrokes 1-8, [count] is the number of strokes sent and the checksum closes the message. If you have any idea of what formula the checksum may use, please comment below. I have a rudimentary lookup table of values for each key, where the checksum base value seems to be 0x15 (d signifies a decimal value NOT a hex):
When I defaulted my panel and set domestic dialling using command 965 in programming mode (which sets the subscriber ID to 000001), I noticed the status command changed. Importantly, I could still ARM/DISARM and issue other commands WITHOUT needing matching sub ID or installer code, which you could argue is a security hole.
Thank you aetdeep for sharing your findings. Must have taken you a long time to decode the serial communication protocol. Interested in what software you use to integrate with your alarm. I have a EDM cc880 that was installed more than 20 years ago, which I would like to integrate with Home Assistant.
I think your idea of integrating it via mqtt and serial link is a very good idea. I very much appreciate any help you can provide in this area. Hope you are still willing to share mqtt gateway software. My contact email is wliu0308 at gmail. Many Thanks.
I can tell you that most of the Bosch alarms that support the Direct Link Cable should be able to support serial comms - I know that the Solution 16 even supported a thermal printer at one stage! The only thing different may be the message format and/or feature support (i.e. zone count, outputs, etc.).
Did you manage to work out how to calculate the checksum for the codepad messages? I actually wrote a script to test a bunch of checksums for the messages that I had confirmed working and not one combination I ran seemed to work across all of them.
Hi @Johnty,
I have a Bosch Solution 16 plus and very interested in this.
Please can you PM me or email sm4rtth1ngs99 at gmail dot com if possible?
I installed the alarm and work with MQTT and ESP8266 extensively so should be painless for both of us.
came across this thinking along the same lines of getting MQTT talking to a solution 6000 panel. currently have it with some low level relay switching, but would love to get sensor status etc into a few different automation applications.
My end goal was to develop an addon in Tasmota (GitHub - arendst/Tasmota: Alternative firmware for ESP8266 and ESP32 based devices with easy configuration using webUI, OTA updates, automation using timers or rules, expandability and entirely local control over MQTT, HTTP, Serial or KNX. Full documentation at) that would convert the CC408 alarm panel to an IoT device by using an ESP8266 module. Unfortunately this is not possible because I did not manage to decode the checksum.
@aetdeep: I can share my findings if you are interested in.
@Johnty: I will be more than happy to test your implementation as I have full access to my alarm panel and I actually do not operate it any more.
I just had the Bosch Solution 6000 system installed and the blue backlight for the keypad never goes completely off. It will change to a dim/dull blue, but it's always glowing. If you push a button it goes to maximum brightness and then to a dimmer level after a few minutes.
So in summary. The Bosch Solution 6000 keypad can be set to turn off the backlight after a few minutes of use by setting the keypads 'extinguish' property. This can be done in 2 ways through the keypad menu with an installer passcode or by the installer with direct connection to the solution 6000 panel.
I realize this is an old post, but I just had a Bosch 3000 installed and would dearly like to be able to turn off the codepad buttons backlight. Does anyone know if this works for the 3000 as well as the 6000, or if there is another way to turn off the keypad backlight?
Is that a restriction within the panel or of the Icon keypad?
In other words will upgrading to a higher spec keypad/display option (i.e. the 'Text' or a touch screen) for the 3000 allow for it to go completely 'dark' after a set period ?
I'd never give an installer PIN to the customer without them asking for it specifically. Too easy for them to get in and break things and then complain that the system doesn't work properly because they thought they knew what they were doing.
The Bosch Solution 6000 is a highly advanced and fully integrated security solution that combines the best features of both an alarm system and an access control system. This powerful system provides up to 144 programmable zones, which makes it suitable for even the largest commercial or industrial applications. With up to 16 access doors or readers and 990 users, the Bosch Solution 6000 is capable of providing a high level of security for even the most demanding applications.
The affordability of the Bosch Solution 6000 makes it an economical option that can be adapted to businesses of any scale. As your business grows, you can simply add additional zones or access doors to the system without having to purchase a new system entirely.
Another key feature of the Bosch Solution 6000 is its programmable authority levels. This means that you can control access to different areas of your business based on employee roles and responsibilities. For example, you can give managers access to certain areas that regular employees cannot access.
The Bosch Solution 6000 is also incredibly easy to use. With its simple operation and intuitive user interface, even non-technical users can quickly learn how to use the system. This makes it an ideal choice for businesses that need a high level of security but don't want to spend a lot of time training employees on how to use the system.
The Bosch 6000 alarm also includes advanced Smart Card technology, which provides built-in entry/exit and lock control. This feature helps to reduce installation costs and simplify the installation process, which means that you can have your new security system up and running in no time.
