Troyan Cherry Ltd is seeking a Local Farm Manager (male/female) to manage a 5 ha permaculture farm in Todorovo, Bulgaria.

The farm, located on the site "Suhi Dol", is being designed in collaboration with the Balkan Ecology Project (www.balkep.org]). In line with the principles of permaculture, the farm consists of a multi-layered, diverse production system. There will be rows of fruit trees – mostly apples - and berries. These will be used to produce fruit juice. In between the rows, chickens will run and annual vegetables will be grown. Everything produced on the farm will be processed locally and sold on the local and national market, at affordable prices.

The local farm manager will be responsible for planning and implementing all daily tasks on the farm, including developing and implementing plant protection, nutrient management, irrigation and work plans; recording yield, quality and other production factors; organizing the harvest; and managing and training workers. The farm manager is also encouraged to contribute ideas on how to further develop and improve the operation.

Troyan Cherry also has an operation in another location in Bulgaria where it is developing an organic cherry orchard. The local farm manager in Todorovo will report to an overall farm manager, who will oversee the operations in both locations.

This is a unique opportunity for the right person with a passion for innovative, sustainable agriculture to be involved in an exciting project that aims to contribute to an alternative model for farming and rural development. We offer an attractive salary, social security, development and training opportunities and other benefits.

The local farm manager is expected to live in the village of Todorovo. Arrangements will be made to ensure appropriate housing.
