The Motivations....
Allotment gardens, dacha-districts, leafy city gardens, natural riversides and meadows still remain in most Estonian towns. Immediate efforts must be made to maintain the social and environmental value of these areas. Without such action inappropriate future planning of green spaces will result in further loss of wildlife and resident’s exclusion from food production. Protection of the urban natural environment and the promotion of local food cultivation needs greater appreciation and awareness. We believe this seminar is an essential step for Tartu and Estonia to benefit from sharing their knowledge and experience with those from places where these topics have been more intensely studied, funded and legislated.
