This should give an added incentive to re-cycle and reduce rubbish.
Cheers

Dear Miriam,

Please share this message within your networks.

On 1 December 2017 the new NSW Government EPA Return & Earn scheme begins.  The companies who are going to operate the network of collection points have only just been announced and there is not much time to set up system!

After years of lobbying by the community, empty bottles and cans will now be worth 10c refunds (funded by a 10c deposit when purchased). This will change the landscape in NSW for the better.

There will be about 800 Reverse Vending Machines around the state for households to take their bottles and cans back to when they are out and about (or they can still utilise the kerbside recycling system, relinquishing the refund - and council's will redeem - thereby improving the economics of recycling)

But how will it work for groups? What opportunities will there be for charities? How can you collect, store, transport and redeem large quantities of beverage containers to benefit your organisation?  Who can help make it work?
