One of the best technical insights I've gotten from my time with TechOps is that Wordpress is really revolutionary - so when someone says they want their codebase to become the "Wordpress of Sharing" I get  really excited.

That's the goal of the folks behind ShareTribe.net - a free/libre/open Ruby on Rails app that our friend Elf has kindly placed at permabank.net

ShareTribe has the core feature set envisioned for permabank: the ability to list offers and gift, match then, execute transactions and record reputation info.  The tool is geagraphically based, so it's perfect for occupy communities that organize in the physical world.  It could also be useful for the sandy recovery community.

To keep things rolling, I'd like to ask the occupy tech community for a few favors.

First, I welcome folks to read more about the intentions and history of the permabank project on our blog at permabank.cc (formerly at blog.permabank.net) and on our occupy.,net wiki page.

Second, I'd like to encourage anyone interested in this tool - especially folks with Rub experience - to join our developers listserv here.  We have big ambitions to make PermaBank into a platform that supports a wide diversity of alternative currencies and exchange practices.

Third, I own permabank.net and want to transfer it to the techops gandi account so Elf and others can administer it.  Can someone walk me through that process?

More updated coming soon!

Thanks Devin!

Today I hope to iron out last bugs on a way to make it functional to use, as well as setup a tribe, or *sphere* in permabank terminology for occupysandy. I'll post an update on this thread once I have it ready!

Ciao :)
