Syntax highlighting

Hi,

I discovered NetBeans and you App (in the same time) a few days ago.
I'm glad to see someone develop for Perl IDE and I'll to send
feedback...

But to start coding with "Perl-on-Netbeans", I think you should make
Syntax highlighting a greater priority in your features' planning.
Because all black is really... hard for eyes !

Thanks for your interest in this project Pierre.

To start with, I already have syntax highlighting as a planned feature. The main problem is that there is no standard grammar for Perl. I have started analyzing the Perl grammar but that means I would have to create a standard in Perl (Quite a big task).

Once the grammar has been sorted out, the first feature that I would include is "Syntax Highlighting" :).

Till then, your patience and comments are highly appreciated.

I would really appreciate your comments on your experience using the IDE on the available features.

Hi Pierre,

As promised, I have been able to incorporate syntax highlighting. I am working on a new plugin from scratch for 7.2. Seem to have progressed q bit on this. Expect something to be release by end-of-this-month :)

My current dev leads me to give up Perl for a while. But when the plugin will be release, i will be delight to download it and use it if my work goes on Perl again.

Beta 1 has been released and has already clicked 200 downloads in 20 days. This version has syntax highlighting. Hope your eyes can relax a bit now :)

If there is a single quote(') on a comment line the highlighter regards everything it finds until the nest quote as part of the string.

Nobody presented NetBeans as an alternative at YAPC.  The comment was "WE need a good IDE and supporting tools", if it is production ready for next year I would be willing to present it to the audience if you are not there.
