== Executive Summary ==

Push/post your changes now! Stuff is happening.

== Full Text ==

Nicholas is about to release a snapshot, and wants to start pumping out
release candidates for Perl 5.8.9 shortly after. This means if you have
work you haven't pushed to github, or patches you haven't sent to the list,
or patches that you have sent but which I've let slip, then you want to
push/post them NOW.

If you don't, then:

* Your work will be wasted.
* You won't get credit in the AUTHORS file.
* You won't get points/kudos on ohloh.
* Zombies will eat your brain.

Conditions apply, actual results may vary.

If you're working on a chunk, you can keep working, just *please* post what
you've done so far. The 5.8.9 release isn't out yet, but it will happen soon.

In order to prepare for the 5.8.9 snapshots and release candidates, I've
done the following:

* All the changes I've been given and could find have been merged.
* This includes Ben's partial changes.

* If you're still listed in the "IN PROGRESS" file for a chunk in
Volunteers.txt, and you're not Ben H, then I haven't merged any
of your changes for that chunk. Please (re-)send me what you've
done.

* The AUTHORS file and bin/build-authors have been updated.
* If you've submitted me patches or commits, and your name is not
here, or is not in the form you like, then please let me know (or
update bin/build-authors, run it, and commit).

* The splits/ directory has been cleaned up.
* Anything starting with DONE- has been done.
* Anything else is still yet to be done.
* Some of the 'yet to be dones' are assigned to volunteers.
Check Volunteers.txt for full details.

* The TODO list has been superficially cleaned.
* AFAIK everything remaining on this still needs to be done/checked.

* The master Changes file has *NOT* been updated or re-split.
* Any changes since 2008-09-06 are not in any of the perl589delta
files.

All the very best,

Paul

A big thank-you to everyone. Having other people help do stuff is definitely
making things easier for me.

I should add that it's really not a bad thing to come back and say "I'm sorry,
I thought I had time to volunteer to help, but it turned out otherwise"
(It does in fact demonstrate a lot more courage than keeping quiet. It's also
a lot more useful for the organisation side of things.)

I committed the appended to blead. Your fame will soon spread to countless
places* worldwide.

All the volunteers who contributed to Paul Fenwick's project to help
write perl589delta.pod, who weren't already in the AUTHORS file.
Big thanks to all of them (including the 6 already in it). Still not
to late to book your place in eternity - contact Paul for details.

Is it possible to change it into a working email? :p it seems my git
setup was busted when I commited.

andreas.m...@gmail.com or om...@palle.net would be preferable

So, since we've now been plugged in to RC1, should I continue to pound
away at 2007-11-c, or is this project at it's deadline?

No, nothing is yet plugged into RC1
Only the AUTHORS file has been updated.

Continuing to pound away for the next day or two would still be most welcome.
Paul will say when he's reached the point of handing it all back to me.

No problems at all, and thanks for letting us know! I've marked the chunk
as available in the Volunteers.txt file.
