At long last I have released Alien:GSL 1.00 and it is Alien::Base based!
This module was my inspiration for starting the Alien::Base project, and yet, my need for it disappeared before Alien::Base became workable, and well before the team has made it as robust as it is now.
I'm so happy to get this last checkbox checked! I have already updated one of my GSL modules (PerlGSL::DiffEq) to use it and will try to get around to doing the same for the other PerlGSL modules.
The driver for this push was the fact that PDL is about to finally be modularized by external library and GSL being one such would need a working Alien::GSL.
With GSL now available, there still are other external C and even Fortran dependencies that will need the Alien::Base (or just Alien:: if necessary) treatment, so if you are so inclined, hop on the PDL mailing list or #pdl on
irc.perl.org and discuss!
Cheers and happy Perl/GSL ing!
