Question about EU::MM and UTF-8 POD

I have UTF-8 literals in my modules' POD, but EU::MM seems to ignore the
=encoding directive. Is there any way to tell EU:MM to pass Pod::Man
the utf8 option?

I managed to get around this by defining my own MY::manifypods, but that
seems hairy. Is there a better way? If not, how hard would it be to
add such an option to EU::MM?
