Lemme just remind everyone that as of 6.06_01 MakeMaker is likely to be
completely broke on MacPerl. There have been huge code changes between
6.05 and the current version, 6.10_01. I don't have an MPW setup to try
it out on and I've given up trying to keep ExtUtils::MM_MacOS in sync.

I haven't heard any comment from MacPerl users about MakeMaker for months
so I figured I'd just fire off another flare to see if there's any
interest. The longer it remains broken the further it will drift and
the more painful it will be to fix.

Then the next time I test maint-5.8, I will test MakeMaker.

I don't know if I have the time to do test it separately.

maint-5.8 used to be 6.03, the same as it was in 5.8.0, but just last week
I brought it up to 6.06_05 and last night again up to 6.10_02. So
maint-5.8 contains the up to the spanking minute version of MakeMaker.

It would probably be easier for you to download the MakeMaker alpha off

of CPAN or take a snapshot off makemaker.org and test that as a seperate
module against MacPerl 5.8.0. Less variables to deal with (ie. is perl
broken or MakeMaker) and much faster build/test turnaround time.
