The software engineer will work closely within a team of developers to help
in the support, maintenance and creation of our products using Modern Perl
and Python.
You’ll focus on the development and growth of an ecosystem of
RESTish APIs that service a wide range of needs across the enterprise. Our
APIs are written in Modern Perl and designed as a collection of
independently scalable microservices, all built on the same framework.
These APIs act as a service bridge between different parts of the
enterprise as well as to third party partners.
We are looking for someone
that is comfortable working on a small team, is accountable, and can
participate in the complete software lifecycle, end-to-end. We want people
that take pride in their work and are willing to go the extra mile to help
us provide the absolute best services for our customers. Our ideal
candidates like being challenged and will flourish in a fast-paced
environment working with a team to deliver projects large and small, as
well as assisting the team in handling issues and providing technical
expertise to our consumers. You will have many opportunities to improve
your skills.
Primary responsibilities include:
Develop software
primarily in Perl, with some Python if desired
Be involved in the
entire software development lifecycle
Work independently with help
from the tech lead / team
Participates in Scrum to pick up daily
stories to complete and deliver
Opportunities for front end
development
Understanding of the design and implementation of
database schemas and relationships
Ability to work independently
and make wise, confident choices during development, and know when to ask
questions
Desire to constantly learn, improve and grow with our
team
Ability to use logs and the codebase to debug production issues
Additional consideration for experience working in AWS
Desired skills:
What we are looking for in a Software Developer:
Degree in computer
science or related study.
Familiar with Rest API concepts
5+
years of programming experience with APIs / web services / web applications
Proficiency with the command line, git, and other development tools
Solid Modern Perl skills including use of an MVC framework
