I just noticed that the jo...@perl.org mailing list is only getting a small
fraction of the Perl jobs that appear at https://jobs.perl.org rather than the
same list which I would have expected.

I know its not just my mailbox, which whitelists this anyway,
https://www.nntp.perl.org/group/perl.jobs/ is missing them too.

This seems to be fundamentally broken, making the mailing list partly useless,
and requiring one to look at the website regularly.

Compare the ones for March, 2018, particularly.

Anyone know what's going on here?

I don't recall how far back the problem went, just that it affects the current
month, as now is mainly when I'm looking at it in recent history.

Thank you.

Hi Darren,

If I remember right then there’s some logic to not email the jobs if/when they are recent reposts. Also spam filters etc, including mine (there’s a semi-manual step to the emails).

The mailing list is sorta useless anyway, I’d think, since the jobs are unfiltered (other than the above) which is why I haven’t prioritized fixing the semi-manual step without “fixing it properly” (and look how far that’s gotten me in ~17 years!).

Surely there's some decent value in the list so people who want to keep
up to date on new positions can just subscribe and have them turn up?
If the list can only be posted to by certain addresses, so doesn't get
loads of spam, and mails from jobs.perl.org are generated when posts
are approved, it would be useful and spam-free, no?
