sendmail long lines

Hi,

When I want to attach a file with 3000 chars on each line, sendmail
( or Outlook ) splits the file in the around every 900 chars and I get
4 lines instead of 1 line.

The file looks like ( I will paste the last few chars of the line )

/ !
/

The exclamation point is inserted by sendmail.

My MIME File looks like this:
From: Fingacct
To:kea...@yahoo.com
Subject: ACE File
Mime-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: multipart/mixed; boundary="lalala"
--lalala
Content-type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary

According to the RFCs, the maximum allowed line length is 1000 or 2000
characters (can't remember exactly).

Encode your mail in Base64 or QuotedPrintable, which will take care of
that.

Thanks a lot for the info. I found that it's 1000 ( 2 goes to LF/CR, and it makes 998 ).

 

I followed your recommendation and fixed it.
