Unable to install Mail::Sendmail module

I can't install sendmail via cpan. It hangs at "sending....." with the default test.pl. If I updated the smtp server to my local one, I can install it successfully. I do not wan't edit test.pl as I use a configuration management system to automatically install this module which is failing at the moment.

Any thoughts?
