Right now hundreds of Muslim families sit trapped on boats without food or water -- but Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand keep pushing them away to die. Citizens are responding, but their brave actions won't solve this crisis -- let's call on Malaysia to rescue them. Sign now:

Dear friends across Malaysia,

Right now hundreds of families sit trapped on boats without food or water. The Muslim refugees are on the doorstep of Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand -- but they're forcing the families back into the ocean to die.

The three governments are in emergency meetings right now deciding whether to rescue them -- let's call on Malaysia to act!

Pressure from the UN, US and media is building -- but an enormous call from within the country can push Malaysia to do the right thing and bring these boats ashore. Sign now to help rescue the refugees:

Experts say there are 7,000 people on boats drifting offshore. Many are already dead, and others have resorted to drinking their own urine just to hold on. It’s life or death, plain and simple.

Acehnese fishermen have rescued Rohingya refugees, but the governments have failed them, only rescuing a fraction of those in desperate need.

The root of the problem lies with Myanmar and its horrible state-sanctioned racism against the Rohingya -- the group of people fleeing Myanmar -- where they aren't even recognised as citizens. But Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand need to start taking responsibility and stop letting these refugees die on our doorsteps.

Malaysia has a chance to step up and be a champion for the Rohingya, but the refugees need action fast. Let's urge the government to show the same compassion that citizens in Aceh and elsewhere have already shown -- click now to join our call:

Avaaz was built for this moment. When states give up on people, citizens need to step-in and force countries to step up. From campaigning to support Syrian refugees to shining a light on the torture camps in Egypt's Sinai desert, Avaaz have always fought to defend the rights of migrants and now we can help rescue the Rohingya.

With hope,

Rewan, Ben, Ari, Alice, Antonia, Emma, Andrew and the whole Avaaz team
