Hello all,
I know that maintaining open source projects can take a lot of energy.
Reviewing pull requests in particular takes time and the investment
may not be worth it if we are mentoring contributors that don't last.
I'd like to help bring life back to Perkeep dev, but it would be hard
to do without existing Perkeep contributors.
Would one of the existing devs accept to mentor me in exchange of me
promising to contribute in the long term? I would really like to get
the ball rolling and create an active community around Perkeep. I am
able to invest a lot of time and energy into this and I think that
Perkeep is worth it.
Some of my starting goals would be to increase Perkeep's usability:
- Possibly start hosting builds
* Possibly including small utilities like systemd service files for
ease of use
- Improve the high-level config
- Improve the web interface
Lets keep this short, I'd like to suggest some starting points:
1. I have opened a couple small PR/Questions on GitHub. Can anyone
take a look at them?
2. Would you be willing to give me access to manage issues on GitHub
so that I can help maintain the backlog? It's hard to help doing this
without access, I'd basically be pigning you guys in all issues saying
"I think we can close this". I will ask if I am not sure, don' worry.
3. Want to chat/connect? I am:
- @aviau on #perkeep
- @aviau on github
https://github.com/aviau
- @aviau:
matrix.org on matrix
-
av...@debian.org
-
alex...@alexandreviau.net
If you mentor me, I promise to stay long enough to mentor many others
;) It'll be worth it!
Cheers,
