Assalamualaikum wr wbt,Dear Prof,Thank you for the invitation, however I have to balik kampung as my cousions are getting married this weekend. Hope you will have a fruitful AGM.I have spoken to the Akademi Sains Malaysia regarding the "i'm a scientist" competition. They say they will write an invitation letter to PERINTIS, soon, and very much welcome participants from PERINTIS. Please find below is their advertisement....perhaps PERINTIS can send more than one candidate. It will be great to have a medical doctor as a candidate, but most importantly, the candidate should be "free" to online chat with the students for the 2 week competitions. The chatting sessions are normally around 30 mins per session, and can may take up to 4 sessions per day! Time is also needed to answer questions posted in the website.Its a great platform to disseminate our understanding and aqidah to the students when chatting with them. I’M A SCIENTIST, GET ME OUT OF HERE, MALAYSIA (IAS) 2014
The Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM) through sciencebuzz.my, an online science portal will be once again organizing I’m a Scientist, Get Me Out of Here (IAS) from 7 – 18 April 2014.
IAS is an online reality programme adapted from UK which takes place in ias.sciencebuzz.my. The objectives of this programme are:
i. To provide a platform for our local scientists to share their scientific knowledge and experience as scientists to school students.
ii. To provide an opportunity to students to interact and get to know local scientists which later could foster positive perception and cultivate interest in science among students.
IAS 2014 will be organized in 2 zones concurrently as follows:
i. Zuhrah Zone is for secondary school students
ii. Bumi Zone is for primary school students
iii. Each zone will consist of at least 5 scientists and maximum 400 students
iv. The 2 weeks event will take place online, at ias.sciencebuzz.my which will involve 3 main activities that are - ASK, CHAT and VOTE.
In relation to this, ASM wishes to invite members of Persatuan Saintis Muslim Malaysia (PERINTIS) to participate as one of the scientist in IAS 2014. Attached herewith is the letter and summary of IAS Briefing Notes for your reference.
