No audio when playing mkv video with AC3 audio using Niceplayer 0.97 or DivX 7.2.4 Mac OS X 10.8

I have installed Perian 1.2.3 but cannot get mkv AC3 videos to play with audio.

OS is MacOs X 10.8.5

Video players tried: 

DivX 7.2.4 (says need to install a DirectShow component for AC3 (8192))

Niceplayer 0.94 (won't play mkv)

Niceplayer 0.97 (plays mkv but no audio).

 Any suggestions?

Likely you have a copy of DivX installed which is interfering with Perian's ability to properly decode the audio.  Remove it and all its components and try again.
