In the Read Me.rtf, there are installation instructions, but no
uninstall instructions. Many Mac users don't realize how to uninstall.
Please add something like the following:

To uninstall Perian in Mac OS X:
1) System Preferences / Other / Perian. Select "Remove Perian".
2) System Preferences / Show All. Right-click on Perian. Select
"Remove "Perian" Preference Pane".

Thank you.

It's been there for years.

I don't think you have any actual data to back that up though, and we do. Since 2006, you're the first person to say that this is necessary in any place but the web. I disagree. I'm honestly of the opinion that all of our documentation should be on the website, and that we can remove the read me. Not enough people read them to make it matter from the evidence provided that in 6+ years you are the first person to mention this at all.

We'll not be adding anything further to the read me, especially since it cannot be translated easily. The better approach is to include a webloc or a button and pointing that to the website. When we get to translations this summer when I want to handle them, the read me is likely to be removed. We have to account for where to put the license file, but the read me has questionable use at best compared to a more full fledged website which can be translated a whole lot easier.

Also, if you want to actually have a conversation, please actually respond to your thread, and not via the abridged summary.

If those uninstall instructions are in the Perian Read Me.rtf, I'll eat my hat. One shouldn't have to search the web site for them.

So I accidentally deleted the preference pane first. Am I in for trouble? I can not figure out how to uninstall now.

First, check the trash to see if it's in there. If not, you can simply download it and install again.
