Hi all,

My first time on this particular group. I just wanted to be sure that
everyone connected with Perian was aware that the plug-in interferes
with the import of AVCHD video files into Final Cut Pro using the
ProRes codec and FCP's log and transfer tool. The resulting ProRes
files jump or skip every few seconds. Disabling Perian before
beginning the log and transfer session clears the problem. This has
been reported on Apple's website:

http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2572

Are there any plans to try to fix this behaviour? It's not a big
problem to work around, but we frequently forget to check the Perian
setting and end up with a corrupted batch of imports. It would be
really nice to fix this one.

Thanks!

None of us have AVCHD cameras, but I assumed it's an FCP bug because
Perian already refuses to decode interlaced H.264.

Try running this in Terminal first:
defaults write org.perian.Perian DebugLogFile ~/perian-fcp.log

and afterwards:
defaults delete org.perian.Perian DebugLogFile

and then post that file.
