I can no longer receive (and send) emails in Thunderbird since iinet webmail has been discontinued and I have changed over to The Messenger Company. When I try to receive emails in Thunderbird it asks me for a password for iinet mail, but does not recognise the one I used to have. I'm sure I'll need to change something in the settings, but I don't know what. And I don't even know whether I will be able to send this message and/or receive a reply.
Not really. iinet are an Australian ISP. 99.9% of their customers using the webmail service would be doing so from within Australia. Why should iinet expose the mail boxes of their entire customer base to the wider world for the 0.1% of customers who may need to access it while overseas?
I don't think they'll care. You should be using a third-party email provider not linked to your ISP anyway. That way if you wanted to quit iinet you can retain your email address. You'll also discover every third-party email provider has a web interface that works overseas as well.
I must have experienced this consistently for the past several months.
Whenever I try to login to iiNet webmail, it takes about 60-70 seconds before I manage to login. In most cases, when I am logged in, I can't even see my emails. I actually have to click on "Inbox" for the page to refresh to show my mail.
I've had this problem for a long time and have just put up with it. Thought it was time to ask if this is normal?
I'm actually using the login from the iiNet home page www.iinet.net.au
Still finding that it's a bit slow....
If I use mail.iinet.net.au or , the speed of login is about the same.
Just now, I tested using mail.iinet.net.au. I am finding that even inputting the correct password, I don't get logged in on first attempt. I actually have to hit the "Log in" button about 2-3 times before I manage to login to my mail.
Not saying it is super slow all the time, but seems to be happening about 90% of the times I am trying to login to webmail (and I check my email at least a dozen times daily)
hello obv u are using outlook express or something sim to check and d/l all yer crap mail attachments
No, I'm not using an email client. I am using iiNet's web mail service (login from the www.iinet.net.au web page)

I've noticed it's rather slow, and so too is toolbox, often the toolbox windows timeout and appear blank (and being pop-up's, there's no refresh button so you have to close them and then re-open).
Only seems to happen from work, it's seems ok when i connect from home (using my iinet ADSL)
yep, this seems to be my situation too. it's mostly when i log on from work that it is extremely slow. at least a minute to login to webmail and most times, the emails don't show until i hit "inbox".
I also have a web mail account with internode and find that it is is very quick to login (from both home and work)
When I used Outlook 2007, all my emails from my iiNet email account would transfer to my Outlook program and was removed from the iiNet server. Now with Outlook Family 365, the emails are being synced, that is, it is both on the iiNET webmail server as well as on Outlook 365 simultaneously, and if I delete the email from iiNet webmail, it is also deleted from my Outlook 365 program.
Scroll down until you can see the Signature section, and paste your email signature into the text box provided. iiNet webmail supports HTML email signatures so you can paste either a text or HTML email signature in the text box.
We had planned to migrate all of our webmail to a newer platform. We quickly learned that there were differing opinions about whatis better. We have installed the most recent version of squirrelmail and were able to put it on new hardware.
If you would like to try our newer platform click here or keepthe legacy platform we want to make it easy on you so we now have both options.
New Webmail.
Read this blog post entirely to learn how to set up iinet webmail to connect to an email client using the proper IMAP settings and Learn how to download emails from your iinet webmail as well so you may store them locally to desired file format or on another server.
Users must first be informed of the exact IMAP details of iinet mail in order to set up their account using well-known email clients like Mozilla Thunderbird, Outlook Desktop App, Windows Mail app, etc. or any mobile devices. Also user can use these email settings in any third-party application to access iinet account in order to backup emails with attachments.
That means you don't have to use Iinet.net.au webmail interface! You can check your emails using other email programs (like Mailbird, Microsoft Outlook or Mozilla Thunderbird). Using desktop email programs will make you more productive and your email will always be available, even offline.
The short answer is that IMAP connects to your email providers' server and is used for receiving email while SMTP is used for sending mail to other servers.
IMAP (Internet Message Access Protocol) is a protocol that requests that your email provider will save all of your messages and folders onto its own servers. This way, whether you are using an email client or webmail, you will be able to connect to your email account and view anything you have received because it's always stored on their server.
STMP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol) is the protocol for sending emails out of your account to other destinations. It enables your email client to connect to the server of your provider to send outgoing mail, especially to other servers.
@Ozymandias_266 @iiNet The service HAS NOT been restored in Perth!!! Haven't had any internet for almost 7 f-ing hours! This is costing me $$$. Sick of this iinet BS, pure extortion for premium services and all you get is frequent intermittent dropouts & now nothing for last 7hrs!!!
@nick_seeeto ? @iinet, it's been a connectivity rollercoaster since 6:30 PM in postcode 5066. ? No reliable internet, and the wait time on the support line hit 50 mins before I threw in the towel. ? Anyone else facing the same issue? #iiNet #NBN #InternetTroubles
@AEBayley @iinet instead of sending reminders about INVOICE,how about focusing on issues with emails not being received after selling our customer loyalty to inferior, unknown company #iinet #tmc
