That lagarith codec seems to work out of 2011x64 just fine, (Put the dll into maya2011\bin). The only problem is the fps is still wrong. 300frames@30fps still comes out to 12seconds(24fps). Although the file size was only 15 mb now Oh, and it also refused to play in quicktime.
is there anyone who created a viewer plugin supporting the maya iff image format? this is the only image format that is missing in my diropus environment, then i can even get rid of my usual image viewer.
yes, it's correct that photoshop doesn't read/ write mayaiff files correctly, this has been an issue for years that has never been fixed by adobe. that's why all maya users download this import plugin here:
My use case was to simply check several version of a rig without having to open maya which is slow. This viewer does not show skeleton, or skin weights nor does it has a outliner view of the scene (e.g. showing the hierarchy of bones). So this does not allow me to distinguish various rigs. For a viewer it feels quite incomplete and should show more informations present in the scene IMHO, at the very list textual description would be welcomed.
I have been trying to play an animation in fbx review, but have some issue with this. I have keyed the material in maya and then exported as fbx and opened it in fbx review. it plays animations perfectly but my keyed material/shader is missing, it becomes black. I tried with texture also, but same problem. my question is why textures are not visible when you fbx in fbx review and some of the animations are also not playing. I exported fbx from Maya LT.
I have a model with multiple shades of grey in it, when I export my texture from zbrush (as a 16bit PNG/PSD/BMP) and import in to maya it's like maya is compressing the texture. Where before in Zbrush the gradient from grey to light grey would look smooth, in maya there would be clear lines or steps as the colour graduates. What's the fix for this?
basically it's the same idea, except using the base64 module instead of binascii. Any method of converting an arbitary character stream to an ascii-safe representation will work fine, as long as you use a reversable method: the potential problem you need to watch out for is a character in the data block that looks to maya like a close quote - an open quote int he fileInfo will be messy in an MA file.
I'm having weird problems at the moment and I'm not totally sure what it
is but maybe someone can verify this.following situation:
I have a scene with a 3D fluid in there and I'm caching out density, vel
and texture coordinates. if I delete the cache and attach it again with
the attach existing cache file menu then I'll get an error that maya
can't find the cached out channels although the cache data is there. if
I scrub through the time line and do some test renderings everything is
working except the texture coordinates.
if I use the cache directly (without deleting and reattaching it)
everything works. I even checked in the hypergraph but couldn't find
anything unnatural.so is this a bug? maybe already known?I'm using maya 2010 64bit linux.thanks for your help.michael
I will second what Kyle said , right tool for the job. While maya is used primarily in VFX some do use it in the art departments for visualization. However when it comes down to outputting for construction / props Rhino is the preferred tool. Having a background in fabrication and spent many years working in model shops i tend to look at software the way i would look at tools. Dont limit yourself , if one tool does a job better than another then use it. Balance is key. I use Modo, Blender and Rhino in my day to day process Rhino being my primary and the other two are supportive. Maya , Modo and Blender are much more robust for sub d work but the fact that i can start something in Modo or Blender and take it into Rhino seamlessly and continue working has been a life saver. While it would be great to have a one tool does it all its simply not realistic. I also find that having a working knowledge of other software allows me to trouble shoot better. I know Rhino will continue to improve Sub D but its already been a life saver for me.
I hope this answers your question , sorry for the long answer.
I installed maya 2020 on ubuntu 20.04 lts about 2 months ago. I was able to get it to run then, but now I get the following error message when I try to run the program. If anyone knows what any of this means, and how I might be able to fix this I would greatly appreciate it as I need this software for my research.
