Yeah - not really the right place.

You might want to review the change history between 5.0 and 5.5, which is going to be a lot, before upgrading.

   Whilst migrating from mysql standard 5.0 to Percona 5.5 if default-character-set = utf8 exist in the my.cnf configuration the server will crash. The syntax was removed and the new correct syntax is character-set=utf8 for mysql, still I believe that a total crash should be avoided and instead a notice/warning message can be displayed.
