Can someone help explain to me what the Software Repair does? Does it basically repair the base software but leave your apps, connected devices, sign ins etc? Does it wipe the phones data entirely? Is it basically similar to a Factory Reset? I just want to know what my phone will look like after it's done, but can't find much out there about it.
I've been trying to repair a C5 ultra with xperia companion, the software updated the same day I wanted to repair the phone and when I try to repair it I got the UE GetPhoneInfoFailure UE_302. Te cable is ok, I updated Java, I opened the xperia Companion as administrator, I turned off the firewall.
Reinstall Xperia Companion (clean - i advise you iOrbit Uninstaller app or Ccleaner, after process in regedit find all file of Xperia Companion and clean it, find all folders of Xperia Companion and clena it, restart computer and when will not be any files of Xperia Companion install if from Sony Mobile web site), try reset factory setting of smartohone and when repair it. Xperia Companion running without administrator it' simple app, no need to run as administrator.
Also discoverd online that there are many Xperia users have the same issue, it's ashame the experia product still has the same software issue for years, icl XZ from 2017 and Sony still doesn't has the clears solution for this error in their site.
got some serious issue...xperia zr keeps on rebooting..I am experiencing same kind of trouble in my xperia zr. Tried to repair with pc companion but no use. The battery drains in seconds when i try to switch on. I cant charge it bcz the battery goes 90-2% in 2 seconds .
I tried to repair my smartphone with PC Companion and the update failed like expected. Happens nearly every time with sony smartphone. Now i'm not able to start my device and can't attempt an other repair cuz it's saying that the device is locked. But i cannot unlock it, cuz it won't start. Can i throw the smartphone in the trash? Or is there any way to fix it?Great how adding pictures works here! *facepalm*
I'm sorry to hear that, does the phone charge at all? if it does then let it charge for 1-2 hours, make sure to use a wall charger not a computer > then do not try to turn it on, open Xperia Companion > follow the repair steps and see if that does it
The phone was/is fully charged. But i have no access to the phone, it's saying "Its' locked!" I needed to click on "allow data transfer" on my phone to connect it with companion. But now i'm not able to do that, because it's not starting due to the failed repair.
if you repaired the phone with Xperia Companion, all your data its gone, if you only updated through Xperia Companion the data should be there, BUT, since it wasn't installed properly you will have to repeat the update/repair process, just keep the phone off and follow the steps
For filebackup simply connect your Android smartphone (fex Experia S) via USB cable and all files appear in Ubuntu as a portable USB disc, just drag and drop.....or, connect your Sony Xperia S to a USB portable disc using OTG (On the go) USB cable and move all files to that memory or harddrive :-) really simple.... Go Sony...
Sony's Xperia Companion is a useful and official tool for Sony cell phones which provides access to many useful tools. The main layout of the application gives quick access to tools such as software update, updating the firmware on the device; software repair which can help resolve bricking issues by reinstalling firmware; backup and restore tools which can help prevent data loss and file transfer for sharing files between your PC and phone.Streamlined interface to manage your deviceAs with most modern official tools by handset manufacturers, Xperia Companion is rather easy to use and messing things up can be difficult. The speed of the software isn't bad by any stretch and its clean layout makes for an easy task of keeping a copy of your files on your PC in case you happen to get some corrupted. One of the most useful tools is of course the possibility of using Xperia Companion to update your phone firmware or performing a software repair in case you've had an aborted update.Just connect your Sony phoneAll you really need to use Xperia Companion is a proper USB cable, an Xperia phone or tablet and a PC. That's it, you're set to go.Features of Xperia Companion
I have a Xperia m2 dual and recently I have faced the boot screen loop problem for that I am trying to repair my software using Xperia companion but after selecting software repair it gets stuck at initializing screen I have been waiting for more than an hour to process get started but this is not working also my internet speed is 1mbps which is stable connection ...pls help
I have searched other threads on Sony forums as well also I have searched for youtube videos but no progress is seen so far
I recommend that you make sure that your firewall or anti-virus software isn't blocking Xperia Companion from accessing the internet. If you disable your firewall and/or anti-virus I also recommend that you reboot your PC before attempting the software repair again.
well my troubles started with a software update, phone ran out of battery half way through doing this as i was at work. turned the phone on after charging and it would just boot loop over and over. i downloaded xperia companion and did software repair. once finished i unplugged tried to turn on and got a message saying something along the lines of software not trusted? after that message the phone would not turn on at all. i tried volume up and power button reset methods to no avail. so i plugged back into my laptop to try xperia companion software fix again. this time xperia companion throws a notification up saying phone is locked unlock now. im assuming this is using my google account details, but the phone wont turn on so cant enter them. i searched forums and seen people saying the best way to do it if the handset cant be turned on is go to my google account online, then go to devices and remove the device from my google account which i did. but this hasnt done anything either. phone just seems completely dead no red light when charger is plugged in. no vibrations upon key presses. just the same message that my phone is locked when plugged into xperia companion.
Hi @mallon86, sorry to hear about this.
Could you try and start the software repair with your device not plugged into your computer? Do as normal and click on "Software repair" and then mark the little box down in the bottom left corner in the next menu where it says "My device can't be found, powered on or is a Smartwatch 3" and then click on "Next" in the bottom right corner and proceed with the on-screen instructions.
Let me know if that changes anything!
Firstly thank you for taking the time to reply. Will this do anything at all surely the phone needs to be connected to Xperia companion to be able to do anything. I will try tho and let you know if there is any change. Thanks.
Hi again @mallon86!
You will need to connect the device in a later stage of the repair process, but since there aren't really any options left apart from having the device sent to service if it still doesn't work after the software repair, it's definitely worth a shot as the device isn't working at all now.
Let me know how it went!
got you, sorry i was tired having just finished work. i have tried what you have suggested and it just says the exact same thing software update failed during repair process, then throws up the same notification within xperia companion stating my phone needs to be unlocked. i cant for the life of me understand how an official software update can kill my phone? the other thing i cant understand is why i am then left to pick up the cost of the repair, when i am at no fault. its a shame i used to only use sony handsets my z3 ended up dead as well. i replaced that device with this one and now this is dead. thats a trend i wont be continuing. service centre is out the question for me as the handset is out of warranty. i guess i will have to chalk up another loss.
