We will be holding a Sea Perch workshop this March. Please pass this
announcement onto any teachers that would be interested!
MIT Sea Grant offers….
Sea Perch Workshop:
Integrating Ocean Exploration into the Classroom
http://seaperch.mit.edu
MIT Sea Grant's Sea Perch program introduces pre-college students to
the wonders of underwater robotics. The Sea Perch program trains
teachers, mentors and potential trainers how to build the remotely
operated vehicles (ROVs), which are made with PVC pipe. With a marine
engineering theme, this project teaches basic skills in design and
encourages students to explore marine and ocean engineering concepts
and careers.
MIT Sea Grant will be bringing you this workshop at no cost. Come join
us for a 2 day workshop where you will build your own ROV from scratch
and learn how to use it in the classroom and in the field.
Where: MIT, Ocean Engineering Teaching Lab
When: March 9-10, 2009
Time: 8:30 – 4pm
Cost: FREE
(Breakfast and Lunch will be provided)
Application due by February 25, 2009
By participating in this workshop, you will receive your completed
ROV; the Sea Perch Manual that contains building instructions,
curriculum and career connections; information and experience on how
to collect data with your ROV.
To apply for the workshop, please email the Sea Perch Workshop
