Ive just got my Xbox Series X and am trying to change the display settings but when i try to change the settings to 1440p and 120hz then it says it can't run it so changes the resolution to 1080p at 120hz or 1440p at 60hz. This monitor has HDMI 2.0 and can run 1440p at 144hz but my xbox doesn't seem to allow it. Is there any reason why this is happening?

I think 1440p 120hz isn't supported through HDMI on this monitor - I plugged my laptop to the monitor via HDMI too and it would only give 60hz at 1440p. Which is a bit annoying as I can't see that it isn't supported in any manuals etc and it's one of the reason I chose this monitor...

Well I think it actually has to do with the xbox itself because im having the same problem with my x27i which is similar to ops monitor they both have hdmi 2.0 which is capable of 1440p @120hz I really dont understand why it isnt working

I have the same issue, the HDMI can definitely run 120hz at 1440p. I have tested this out on my PC. I wonder if this is an Xbox issue, not sending some sort of input signal over. If you find solution please let me know, its so frustrating.

Actually ive dug further through this topic and have found out that the monitor probably doesnt support 1440p @120hz specifically which I had no idea intermediate refresh rate support was something I needed to look in for a monitor im going to sell mine and go for an acer XG270HU apparently it does support 1440p @ 120hz

Please keep us updated - unfortunately I've had this monitor for more than 2 weeks so I can't return it.. only option would be to sell it at a loss and go for another monitor or hope it's just a bug with microsoft...

A - Thanks for reaching out. I'd like to help you with your HP Product. HDMI 2.0 can dual out 4K video without compromise, at 50 and 60 frames per second. But not 144Hz. HDMI 1.4 supports 144hz refresh at 1080p. HDMI 2.0 is for 4k/60hz. The short answer to which is the best type of cable for 144Hz monitors is that Display Port > Dual-link DVI > HDMI 1.3. To display 1080p content at 144Hz, you can use a Display Port cable, Dual-link DVI cable or a HDMI 1.3 and higher cable.

The Gigabyte M32U is the best monitor for Xbox Series X with a 4k resolution we've tested. It's an excellent gaming monitor for console gamers, with two HDMI inputs that support HDMI 2.1 bandwidth, meaning you can take full advantage of 4k @ 120Hz...

not sure if this helps but i have the gigabyte 32 inch version before that. Its a good screen even 2 years on. actually typing on it right now. it does high fps good but there is some black light bleed. if its for gaming only i would say get the 42 inch oled by lg. you can get some of the smaller oleds but a little to pricy imo Im mainly ganing on the 48 inch oled now and love it

Question: Do you think 1440p is a good choice for a series X? My guess is that the xbox (or PS5) rarely renders 4k and when it does it is because the game is so simple that it does not really matter that much the extra resolution. Am I right?

well i should have made that post because now 25% of the screen died so its dimmer than the rest. sucks but it is what it is. I just feel like for the price of those high end moniters just get the 42 inch lg oled

this dosen help either for odyssey g5 i have tryed but cant get the same menu that show`s here. i have the exactly same problem whit my new odyssey g5 34". tried samsung support and x box support no help so i donst understand some can get it on there monitor but others dont i have like i sed a brand new monitor and a brand new xbox x series.

yes same as me this is not good at all i`ve tryed every thing now and fed up no one can help me tryed samsung costumer service xbox service and even the store i bougth the monitor so i also is wondering to send it back and get another brand or something

Not necessarily. The monitor should support 120Hz at the resolutions shown below. However, the monitor does NOT support 4K or 3840x2160 resolutions if that's what your trying to feed the monitor from the xbox.

Yes, DisplayPort video signal inputs up to 120Hz max or 144Hz max. The key words are "up to". Means some models in the series may or may not reach these max rates. The user guides usually aren't specific to a single model in the series, hence the qualifying terms sometimes used in them.
