The approach he developed for cultivating his own land does not follow conventional industrial farming methods. In 2019, they began the transition to organic agriculture, changing how the farm was managed and the results are abundantly visible. He prefers to use a natural, time-honoured and touch approach. His farm has come to life. And he stumbled upon the secret to his success by chance, thanks to a flock of sheep grazing nearby.

When deciding how to begin the transition towards more nature-led farming and assessing the various obstacles, he found a problem that he had never faced before: how to manage the natural vegetation cover of the farm. With his new approach, pesticides were no longer an option.

What started out as a way to manage vegetation turned out to be a regenerative farming practice with more benefits than expected: "We found that we were benefiting the environment at all levels. The soil has become even more fertile, we have more vegetation and even endemic olive pests have been brought under control."

We believe all consumers have a right to know how their food is raised, to be able to ask a farmer questions and receive an honest and thoughtful answer. We believe in transparency and connection from paddock to plate. We see educating and inspiring consumers to make ethical food choices as our duty, another way of honouring the life that becomes our sustenance. We yearn for this to go beyond our own customers, to inspire all consumers to make more ethical and environmentally-conscious decisions. We believe that children should spend time on farms and learn where their food comes from, so they carry that knowledge and compassion through to the future, for a better future.

About Larsen Puzzles:

Down at Valparaiso, Indiana, a power farming dealer ahead of his time sold and stocked threshing machines when 95 per cent were sold direct out of branch houses, with implement dealers cutting in only as bird dogs.

We value people and the planet over profits. It all started with our passion to create economic, environmental and social sustainability within the food system. From there, we grew the relationships and infrastructure that truly support farmers, because we know that the foundation for a sustainable future starts with happy farmers and happy dirt.

In order to get a better understanding of the ways farming activities could enhance happiness of the participants and promote intergenerational relationships, an exploratory study on the impacts of farming will be investigated. To make it more specific, the research objectives are addressed as follows:

  1. To explore the way(s) of intergenerational cooperations and communications during farming activities;
  2. To investigate the association of farming activities towards the increase in happiness of the participants (the old and the young);
  3. To identify an effective programme intervention strategy to promote intergenerational support and psychological well-being (happiness) for policy makers.
