ElectionRunner provides a clean, attractive and easy-to-use voter interface that runs well on all Internet-enabled devices that we've tested. Their support system is unparalleled for the speedy, comprehensive and personal manner in which it is delivered. With a few test elections under our belt, we were totally sold.

I used this app for a union election for a mid sized law office with a very difficult to please group of people. I found the app easy to use. The support team was excellent and prompt. Would highly recommend as a low cost and simple way to hold an election

We did the impossible this year. We held online student council elections, reducing a three-day process to 30 minutes. I was looking at an alternative platform but realised the day before that it was unworkable. I stumbled onto ElectionRunner and was not disappointed. It was easy to use and made the process exciting for all parties. I certainly recommend it.

Online voting (also known as electronic voting, or e-voting) is the process of using an electronic method to cast, and then tabulate, votes in an anonymous election. In a nutshell, this is what ElectionBuddy does. ElectionBuddy will help you through the full election process, from notifying voters and collecting votes to calculating the results of the election.

Remote online voting is online voting performed remotely. This type of voting is a form of an absentee ballot and is becoming extremely popular, as it goes one step further than on-site voting does to increase convenience for the voters. Instead of having to go out and vote in-person, remote online voting allows a voter to cast their vote at any time, from anywhere. All a voter needs to vote is a notice containing their voting credentials, a device that can connect to the internet, and an internet connection!

Traditionally, the challenge with remote voting was inherently tied to the distribution method that had to be used: postal services. Since paper was the basis for the voting process, paper ballots had to be mailed to voters and then had to be mailed back for counting the results of the election. The issues with postal services are that postage is expensive, it takes time for ballots to be mailed out and mailed back, and voter information can be lost in the mail.

As the name implies, on-site voting is when an election is performed by a voter in person. This commonly occurs at annual general meetings and is also done during municipal, provincial/state, and federal elections.

Another major theme with online voting for on-site elections is convenience. When a computer software performs tasks and responsibilities that conventionally needed to be completed by hand, this is known as automation, and it is through automation that convenience is achieved. It is extremely convenient to not have to manually distribute, collect, and tabulate ballots, on top of the financial impact of not having a human do these things. ElectionBuddy automates the majority of the voting process, so you can stay focused on and support the more important things.

As we've discussed, there are several benefits to holding an online election. You can hold an online election for your organization using internet voting systems, such as ElectionBuddy. To host an election using ElectionBuddy, simply sign up for an account, enter your information, and select the type of vote or poll you would like to use for your election, and then send out voting credentials to each one of your voters.

The State of Maine is committed to ensuring equal access to elections for all citizens.

For in-person voting on Election Day, the Secretary of State provides the Accessible Voting System (AVS) at every polling place in Maine, in accordance with the requirements of the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) of 2002. We are also working with municipalities on an on-going basis to improve voting place accessibility. For those voters with disabilities who prefer to vote absentee, an accessible electronic ballot is available for voters to complete independently at home using screenreader technology.

The State of Maine provides the ExpressVote universal voting system as its Accessible Voting System. The ExpressVote is a ballot-marking device that allows individuals with disabilities to vote with privacy and independence.

Using this tabletop unit, voters can navigate through their ballot using a touchscreen, or a keypad and audio interface. The ExpressVote generates a printed ballot with the voter's choices. Ballot scanners, which are in use in most of Maine's voting places, can then count the ExpressVote ballot along with the other ballots, which helps to improve voter privacy.

The State of Maine began offering an accessible voting solution in 2006, with the Inspire Vote-By-Phone ballot-marking system. The ExpressVote ballot-marking devices replaced the phone system in June 2016.

Since 2006, the Secretary of State has worked with municipalities to enhance the physical accessibility of voting places as required by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990 and the Help America Vote Act of 2002 (HAVA). The links below will provide additional information and resources to assist municipal officials in achieving compliance with physical accessibility requirements.

Important Note: The law requires the State Board of Elections and each local board of elections to refer to absentee ballots as "mail-in ballots" and absentee voting as "mail-in voting." Please note that this change in terminology does NOT change the process of mail-in voting.

Any registered voter may vote by mail-in ballot. You don't need a reason to vote by mail-in ballot. It's another way to vote if you don't want to or can't go to an early voting center or your polling place.

If you want to get a mail-in ballot for all future elections, you can sign up for the permanent mail-in ballot list when you request a mail-in ballot. Once you are on this list, we will send you your mail-in ballot for each future election you are eligible to vote in. You won't have to submit a request for each election.

Under the federal Uniformed and Overseas Citizens mail-in Voting Act, military voters and voters who live outside the U.S. can vote by mail-in ballot. If you are a military voter or live outside of the U.S., learn more about mail-in voting.

Visit the voter look-up website to verify if your local board of elections received your request for a ballot and the status of your mail-in ballot. If you have more questions, please contact your local board of elections.

Yes. You can designate someone to be your agent. This person will take your completed mail-in ballot application to your local board of elections, pick up your ballot, and deliver it to you. To get your ballot this way, you and your agent must complete the Mail-in Ballot: Designation of Agent Form (Papeleta de Votante Ausente: Formulario para Designar un Representante). This form can also be obtained from your local board of elections.

If you received your ballot by mail or fax, you need a black pen to vote. Review your ballot before voting as your ballot may be multiple pages. Carefully fill in the oval to the left of your choice, and do not vote for more candidates than the number specified in the contest heading. If you wish, you may vote for fewer candidates than specified.
