RE: OSP To Hold Protest Saturday, December 10
CONTACT INFO: me...@occupysaintpaul.orgOccupy Saint Paul
will meet on the Snelling Ave bridge over I-94 from 3:00 – 5:30 pm on Saturday, December 10th to say no to military detention of American citizens. Depending on the number of people involved, we may also occupy a second nearby location.
The purpose of this action is to raise
awareness about the Defense Appropriations Act, which authorizes the military to seize American citizens and detain them indefinitely without charges, without trial and without any evidence being presented. The Senate already passed this bill as S.1867. If it passes the House, the only thing standing in the way of this bill would be
a presidential veto.
This law could be used against Occupy or any other movement the authorities might choose to use it against. It is completely against the Constitution and the principles of American democracy. Please join us on the bridge at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday the 10th to make your voice heard. Because of the importance of this issue, we’re asking all participants to carry signs specifically targeted to the topic of military detention of Americans.
OSP is currently gaining momentum in the St. Paul community and is comprised of citizens who stand in solidarity with the Occupy Wall Street movement. The unifying message of #OccupySaintPaul is to Return Government to We the People.
