  2. If you missed our workshop at the 30th International Congress for Conservation Biology (ICCB 2021) Kigali, Rwanda, on the 15th of December 2021 ‘Facilitating Human-Wildlife Interactions in Conservation Translocations’, good news! The recordings can be found here (in two parts)😊:

  1. For Portuguese speaking colleagues, please find attached a pdf of the presentation ‘Diretrizes para facilitar as interações entre humanos e animais selvagens em translocações de conservação’ at the CopCoex - Comunidade prática em coexistência humano-fauna (18.02.22)This was a wonderful opportunity to introduce and discuss the guidelines with the very dynamic CopCoex (Community of Practice in Human-wildlife Coexistence).
  2. During 2021 we have been working on Guidelines to Facilitate Human-Wildlife Interactions in Conservation Translocations.  It aims to support the Conservation Translocation community and complement the IUCN Reintroduction Guidelines (2013). Although we will continue to prepare and extended format for the CTSG, we are ecstatic to share the paper with you, out now, open access:

  3. The Special issue of the Frontiers in Conservation Sciences, Animal Section "Human Dimensions of Animal Translocations"2022 is also out now, open access via link, with a series of papers that are of interest to our community.  Some papers are still going through the editorial process to complete the issue.
  4. Discussion sessions are back for 2022: we are in conversation with very special guests and will announce dates and times shortly
    1. May 2022, Upma Manral and Kalli Doubleday, on ‘Gender issues in conservation translocations’  (Upma Manral presented her research ‘Gendered facet of conservation: Acknowledging women’ role in biodiversity conservation in Western Himalaya’ at the ICCB 2021, and Kalli wrote a paper about gendered issues in the reintroduction of tigers in India ‘Women's risk and well-being at the intersection of dowry, patriarchy, and conservation: The gendering of human-wildlife conflict’).
    2. Bill Sutherland, about ‘Evidence-based conservation and experimentation’

As you can see 2022 is looking productive, and we look forward to sharing this work, ideas, and new events with you.
