Postdoctoral Fellow - Fort Collins, Colorado: Human Dimensions of Natural Resources, Colorado State University 

Responsibilities/Duties

This Postdoctoral Fellow position will be part of a collaborative research initiative, and have lead responsibility for a research project, all while under the general direction of a senior or principal researcher. The position is for 1 year (12 mos) and the Postdoctoral Fellow will be specifically responsible for implementing a research project focused on BIPOC (black, indigenous, and people of color) communities and diversity and access of recreational fishing in Colorado. Main responsibilities include: 

  • Develop and implementing a state-wide survey of recreational fishers 
  • Conducting interviews with recreational fishers.  
  • Interview and survey data management,  
  • Perform data analysis including descriptive summaries, data and results visualizations, and inferential statistics 
  • Develop reports, presentations, and other deliverables summarizing project findings 
  • Publish and contribute to peer-reviewed publications 
  • Support other research activities as needed 

    Required Qualifications
  • PhD in environmental social science, human dimensions of natural resources, or related discipline 
  • Experience with social science research methodologies including quantitative, and qualitative methods, and survey design.  
  • Skill with statistical analysis using R, SPSS, or JMP 
  • Skill with qualitative analysis using NVivo, Atlas.ti, or MAXQDA 
  • Demonstrated experience publishing peer-reviewed social science publications 
  • Critical thinking skills and ability to perform duties under minimum supervision. 

Strongly Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in outdoor recreation, fisheries, and/or natural resource management. 
  • Experience working with communities of color. 
  • Experience with Qualtrics. 
  • Experience supervising undergraduate students.
