Dear PHM Kenya

You may have already seen the email that I sent yesterday on the WHO AFRO RC 69 session. If you have time please go through the email and you could contribute to the PHM Commentary Index page.

Agenda Item 12 Framework for provision of essential health services through strengthened district/local health systems to support UHC in the context of the SDGs (Document AFR/RC69/8-attached) maybe relevant to the current work you are doing on UHC. Please review and see if you can make any contributions as suggested in the initial email.

Regards

Linda

Dear All

The 69th session of the WHO/AFRO RC meets from 19-23 August 2019 in Brazzaville, Congo.

The Provisional Agenda, the Statement of the chairperson of the Programme subcommittee to the sixty-ninth session of the regional committee and Informational documents are already published. See https://who-track.phmovement.org/afro-69 .

Please contribute to the AFRO69 Watch by reviewing the Provisional Agenda and identifying items that inspire you or are close to what you are working on or where you have expertise or experience. Please choose your item(s) and contribute to develop commentaries.
There are a few items on the agenda that are important and require our response. Drafting a commentary on major items and sending this to the country delegates attending  will be an important advocacy tool for all of us.

You can also mobilize (at country and regional level) around items that are relevant for you.

Please share it with your group or anybody interested or willing to contribute.

Regards

Hi Linda,
Having gone through the document (Agenda 12) Framework for provision of essential health services through strengthened district/local health systems to support UHC in the context of the SDGs it is well elaborated and covers what PHM-Kenya are advocating for.

Best,
Peninah.

Dear Peninah

Thanks for the response. I would like to ask that maybe you could write a few lines on that on the WHO Tracker PHM Commentary index page on the agenda item. It will assist to track our views on the matter.

Regards

Linda

Dear Peninah, Dan and all

Just following of you have managed to discuss to make any contributions.

See email below I have just sent to the main group

Dear All

As follow up to the previous email, we do not have at this stage any substantive PHM comments on any of the items and invite you to review the agenda items to identify a topic most relevant to what you are currently working on. Providing a PHM Comment could be to support what is in the documents or provide a few comments on what is missing and what could be added to improve the issue proposed.  From the engagement that country circles have been involved in, some  agenda items you could offer comments include

Item 11 on Nutrition
Item 12 on Provision of essential health services through strengthened district/local health systems to support UHC in the context of the SDGs
Item 14 on NCDs

David Legge has added a few notes on some items but it is important that we engage in this and if we can facilitate discussion and advocacy in our countries and the region. All files can be accessed from http://www.who-track.phmovement.org/afro69

We have a few who have attended the watching processes in Geneva and engaged at regional level who can assist to support this process. Let's engage!

Kind regards

Linda
