Najib’s headache over UMNO candidates... Posted: 17 Jul 2012 10:30 AM PDT Umno president Najib Tun Razak is at sixes and sevens over the sudden surge of new voters in his Pekan constituency. I have been informed there are 23,000 new voters in Pekan. That’s 5,000 more than the 18,000 I wrote about in an earlier article.
What’s worrying Najib is that he doesn’t know the preference of these 23,000 voters. If they are young voters, they will likely reject Najib. If most of them are aliens, then they have already caused great resentment among the locals because Najib has given them many benefits including land. Each acre of land given to an alien means an acre less for local born. That’s why I said Najib is at sixes and seven. The situation must be very bad because he’s now seeking to atone his past mistakes by calling on a selected group of ex-legislators. In the last elections, Najib dropped 17 medical doctors from the candidate list and an even bigger number of Islamic graduates, who went on to become revolutionary time bombs. Umno retained the riff-raffs and other unmentionables to stand as candidates. From this rogue’s gallery, Najib selected the men and women who would scale to new dizzying heights via his acronym-filled ‘transformation’ agenda. At the meeting with ex-assemblymen and ex-MPs, Najib admitted that some of the previously dropped legislators may have been victims of Umno’s internal politics. He claimed he understood their hurt and agony. Najib allowed ‘scums’ to rise But coming from Najib, I can say it’s an overstatement. The man has little capacity to understand others. People are of value as long as they serve his interests! Everyone who came for the meeting with Najib considered themselves winnable candidates. But how many can Najib accommodate without upsetting the present set up? It’s going to be war again. The present semblance of a united front will disintegrate as soon as he comes out with the candidate list. Umno today is a huge house filled with palace intrigues. Each player is interested to secure the most benefits in the shortest of time. There’s no such thing as long term thinking or a blueprint for the future. Those exotic things are for the top leadership to think of. To say there is a huge disconnect between the leaders and the followers is an understatement. But then, that is the price you pay for allowing the scums to rise to the top and dominate the party divisions.-Mohd Ariff Sabri Aziz,FMT Ketua Umno Bahagian Berkomplot Di Jakarta Tolak Calon Pilihan Najib Masalah utama yang dihadapi oleh Najib untuk meletakkan calon-calon yang dianggap winnable tetapi berada di luar kepimpinan UMNO bahagian ialah sikap-sikap kebanyakan Ketua-Ketua UMNO Bahagian yang didapati masih kemaruk untuk bergelar YB walaupun sudah menjadi wakil rakyat lebih daripada dua penggal. - shahbudindotcom.blogspot cheers. |

Azmi Anshar's Tribute To Paul Ponnudorai. Posted: 17 Jul 2012 09:33 AM PDT Azmi Anshar is an editor in the New Straits Times.
Paul Ponnudorai came into the national psyche as a guitar virtuoso, picking and yodelling his way into the 1975 ‘Bakat TV’ talent contest. WHEN Paul Ponnudorai was hitting it on his own, paying his dues, the journey was occasionally fraught with moments of comedic terror: raucous watering holes for fat-bellied patrons, money-grubbing musical philistines cursing loud expletives if he refused to play the latest punch-drunk Top 10 tune in any ethnic configuration. Legend has it that one gangster showed Ponnudorai the size of his pistol snug in the belt: he decided that being pragmatic was better than maintaining integrity and being shot at, so he indulged the thug with face time by unleashing a Paul Ponnudorai original cover of Careless Whisper - a personal record of 17 times in a row to the howls of drunken stupor! Friends often quipped to Ponnudorai that during his 15th rendition, he should have taken the pistol and just pulled the trigger himself, just to flee the diabolical torment. This fact was known to rabid Ponnudorai followers. The man was a guitarist able to navigate any given tune with the eye of a fine sommelier, the risk-taking of a rogue archaeologist and the mischief of a loveable prankster. With his passing at age 51 (he did say that he walked into a bar in 1979 gigging with his siblings and "I haven't walked out of a bar since"), his supremely-natural gifts on the guitar, the engaging sense of humour inter-played with a rapturous audience and that personal charm he exuded is forever etched in memory. Ponnudorai was a musical pugilist from the 1970s generation, a bunch too young to dig Flower Power but old enough to avoid the Generation-X slacker rap, but he was a genius of a musician living life to the fullest. He even survived a horrific car crash where he needed metal screws bored into his skull after a surgery to neutralise a blood clot. Ponnudorai was soaked in the brine (his favourite phrase) of the Bible and gospel music, 1970s avant-garde rock and other metallic-like structures, and disco with a genteel focus on jazz and blues. But the coyness of the 1970s did not subvert Ponnudorai. It turned him into a peerless virtuoso of the guitar. Medium-built but stout in physique and blessed with a propelling tenor voice, Ponnudorai's years of gigging before musically-illiterate audiences in dingy nightclubs was a profound woodshedding experience. But his obsession for the outrageous guitar riff and chord progression during those halcyon years elevated him into a cult guitar hero. Ponnudorai's thumbs are unmercifully bent, which was consistent with the plausible theory that bent thumbs are the physical characteristic of fabulous musicians. Ponnudorai came into the national psyche as a guitar virtuoso, picking and yodelling his way into the 1975 Bakat TV variety talent contest which became the springboard into greatness, reinforced soon with successes in competitions in the Yamaha Guitar and Southeast Asian Guitar Festivals. Following gigs at pubs and lounges, he was snared as lead singer/guitarist for the Drifting Cowboys, the Waves and the Sweet Notes. That improvisatory spirit though was too vexing: he formed his own band, Made In Malaysia, playing notably at the now defunct All That Jazz, with a selection of sweet pop, rock and blues numbers but inevitably went solo again. Ponnudorai never wavered nor did he compromise his faith in the blues while riffing it up in jazz and rock, though his true musical religion was spontaneous improvisation. Brandishing his electro-acoustic axe on stage was as enthralling as watching a firebrand preacher on a pulpit. Ponnudorai was spiritual in that sense as he adapted popular tunes, then twisted and artistically tortured them into something insanely subliminal. Ponnudorai passed on with his precocious talent intact, but even with a single under-the-radar 2005 album Back In Time, his reputation preceded him. One night, while playing a routine hotel club gig in Singapore, a certain gentleman by the name of Wynton Marsalis, perhaps America's greatest living jazz cat, jumped on stage and began jamming on his trumpet against a very startled Ponnudorai. Ponnudorai was assuredly the antithesis of everything we assumed in the age of MTV and Billboard ratings. Many Malaysians aren't aware of the existence of Ponnudorai, the rich heritage he bestowed upon his native country, even as he had to eke a living across the border. The passing of such a gifted man in our midst is not the real tragedy. Ignorance of his existence is. |

MCA accused Muhyiddin as too Malay-centric... Posted: 17 Jul 2012 04:30 AM PDT Deputy Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin appears to have ruffled the feathers of MCA leaders by publicly accusing MCA of “not understanding” Chinese sentiments. At the Batu Umno division AGM last Sunday, Muhyiddin (left) accused BN component parties - specifically naming MCA and MIC - of failing to understand the sentiments of the Chinese and Indian Malaysians. According to a report by Sin Chew Daily, Muhyiddin had said that in order for BN to win any seats, local leaders must first understand the sentiments of all races. He said that when he visited the Umno division, he would be given a briefing on the ground sentiments, but component parties appear to be a problem. Specifically mentioning MCA, Muhyiddin said he could not understand why the party could not “read” Chinese sentiments. “Are the Chinese really that complicated? Can their attitudes not be comprehended?” he asked. Muhyiddin went on to say that members of the Chinese community would not express themselves freely when approached by BN, but would do so through a third party. Using his own constituency of Pagoh as an example, Muhyiddin said his Umno division and MIC counterparts had managed to resolve problems faced by all 1,744 Indian voters within a month. He hoped that MCA and MIC would be able to emulate this. ‘DPM is too Malay-centric’ In an immediate response, MCA deputy president Liow Tiong Lai accused Muhyiddin of failing to understand Malaysians as a whole. “He said that the MIC and MCA don’t understand the voice of the people. In my opinion, the deputy prime minister must understand the voice of all Malaysians and not just listen to Malays,” he said. Liow (right) said that what the Chinese wanted was fair policies and not policies that were double-standard in nature. “He cannot just look after the needs of the Malays, but must look after the needs of all Malaysians. If he understood that, he would not have made those comments,” said Liow, according to Oriental Daily. According to Sin Chew Daily, Liow said MCA understood very well the sentiments of the Chinese community and raised these issues in the cabinet and through other means. “Policies that are not fair to the Chinese community are being slowly rectified. Others which have yet to be settled with be settled swiftly, to ensure that policies will be open,” he said.-malaysiakini ![]() MCA suruh Muhyiddin fahami sentimen semua kaum bukan Melayu saja... |

Sabrina Yeap - Mother Teresa Of The Animals Posted: 17 Jul 2012 05:03 AM PDT Animal rights activist and friend of the stray dogs and cats Sabrina Yeap passed away today after a long illness.
She will always be remembered as the Mother Teresa Of The Animals. Yeap was formerly in SPCA Malaysia before founding the Furry Friends Farm, a shelter for strays. Three years ago she famously rescued stray dogs from Pulau Selat Kering in Klang. One of the intelligent stray dogs, Hitam, became her special assistant in the mission. Yeap famously said: “I can’t believe there is a heaven without dogs / pets.” “Dogs / pets do more for people than people do for one another.” “They don’t ask for anything in return. They are not part of today's great 'I want'.” Hitam, the heroic black dog which helped her and became the most respected dog in Malaysia, passed on the same year. RIP Sabrina. You are truly a saint. Hitam and Noah are waiting. |

Anwar Ibrahim: Korupsi di Indonesia Tidak Lebih Parah dari Malaysia Posted: 17 Jul 2012 12:30 AM PDT Dari JaringNews.com “Pertumbuhan ekonomi di Indonesia seharusnya dibarengi dengan keberpihakan kepada masyarakat banyak.” JAKARTA, Jaringnews.com – Tokoh oposisi Malaysia, Anwar Ibrahim, angkat bicara mengenai dunia perpolitikan Indonesia. |

Dengan nada sindir, pembaca bernama Fzymeli Md Isa menulis, "kalau buat skrip DSAI jadi Ultraman kan bagus, tak pun kalau meluat sangat kat dia buat skrip jadi hantu mak limah." Mungkar Nakir pula berkata, "menyampah politik tak sihat dah hilang akal mampus." Dia berkata, "tak ada orang nak caya (percaya) dohhh puak Umno niiii.. p aih cherohh duk bohonh gitu laa... ingat Tuhan tu maha kaya... Umno pasti berkuburrrr...insya-ALLAH." Kuranglah masanya nak berkempen."-sinar harian Satu, Dua Dubur Belum Cukup Untuk Selamatkan Nyawa UMPORNO Kalau Hj. Najib Sekali Pun Diliwat... Yang Penting UMNO/BN MAMPOS Ini pengakuan mangsa liwat DSAI. Pengakuan mangsa liwat Anwar Another sodomy trial in the making? Pro-Umno blogger Papagomo (http://www.papagomo.com/) has claimed that a fresh sodomy case was being brought against Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim. In a blog posting yesterday night, the blogger claimed that he had received information that a university student had lodged a police report againt the PKR de facto leader, claiming to have been sodomised the previous night. The blogger alleged that the report was made in a police station in one of the northern states in the country. “It is not known if the report is real or not but what is certain is that all embassies in Malaysia must not to protect Anwar if he decides to hide himself like he did in the previous sodomy case,” wrote the blogger. Without divulging more, the blogger teased his readers, asking them wait for more in the next development. Attempts by FMT to obtain a confirmation from the police if such a police report existed were unsuccessful. Papagomo had also posted a photo of the said student in a police vehicle. The student was accompanied by another man in what appeared to be a police patrol car. When contacted for comment, Anwar’s aide said the opposition leader was presently away on an official visit to Jakarta. Umno’s new tactic In an immediate response, Edy Noor Reduan, a spokesperson for the PKR-linked Solidariti Anak Muda Malaysia (SAMM) said that this ‘Sodomy III’ would be Umno’s brand new tactic. He noted that this third installment followed the failures to prove the previous two other sodomy ‘conspiracies’ against Anwar. “The public is sick with news items that are obscene in nature and will be nauseated if another conspiracy is created. Utusan [Malaysia] will once again compete with Playboy magazine. “And for sure tens of millions of public funds will be used to construct a ‘state of the art’ conspiracy since Sodomy II failed to put Anwar behind bars,” he said in a statement. PKR’s strategic director Rafizi Ramli also rubbished this latest claim in a tweet feed late last night. Two sodomy trials On Jan 9 this year, High Court Judge Mohamad Zabidin Mohd Diah acquitted and discharged Anwar of the charge of sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari. Three years ago, Anwar was accused of committing the act at a Desa Damansara condominium unit in Bukit Damansara between 3.10pm and 4.30pm on June 26, 2008. The offence of “carnal intercourse against the order of nature” under Section 377B of the Penal Code carries up to 20 years’ imprisonment and whipping on conviction. The Attorney-General’s Chambers is appealing Anwar’s discharge and acquittal. Following Saiful’s police report against Anwar then, the PKR leader had temporarily sought refuge at the Turkey embassy before he finally agreed to be questioned by the police. This was why Papagomo had made reference to diplomats not to protect Anwar over the latest accusation. The first time Anwar was accused of sodomy was in 1998, where he was charged together with his adopted brother, Sukma Darmawan Sasmitaat Madja, with sodomising his wife Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail’s driver Azizan Abu Bakar. Anwar was found guilty in 2000 and sentenced to nine years in jail. However, Anwar was freed on Sept 5, 2004 after the Federal Court set aside the sodomy conviction and jail term. The court also overturned the conviction and six-year jail sentence of Sukma.-FMT Anwar unfazed by new claims, attends confab in Jakarta cheers. |

Celebrity Stupidity! Their own words or of the media? Posted: 16 Jul 2012 09:00 PM PDT When I read the news published by Kosmo today about national songstress Siti Nurhaliza asking her fans to accept the way she appears without the proper hijab because she's not ready yet to adhere to the code of modesty ascribed in our faith of Al-Islam, I couldn't help but wonder as to whether it is really her own words exposing her stupidity with regard to the commandments of Allahu Ta'ala concerning how men and women of faith should appear thereof or that conjured up by the news media?
Siti Nurhaliza is one fine singer and we all love listening to her songs where she delivers them with much finesse and is a singer gifted by Ar Rahman with a melodious voice that not many can out perform. Yet time and times again, she gets into the news for the wrong reasons especially when she suffers certain bouts of the diarrhea of the lip so to speak! Like this news stating that there has been online feuds concerning some of her fans who aren't that pleased with her appearance devoid of proper hijab and not in accordance to what most of her fans including yours truly wish to see her appear on tv and in her public performances, decent and properly attired as per the requirements of our Islamic Syariah. She has also at times appeared with some weird wacky looking headgear such as the one appearing below! Looks like one of those kitchen utensils that are used to cover food on the table! Hehehehe. You can check out other visuals of her here. Its not like she doesn't know that her appearing in such manners are wrong but as always with celebrity stupidity, they'll always come up with some cock and bull story to back themselves up saying they'll repent soon? As if the Malaikatul Maut can be delayed or the impending appointment postponed indefinitely? What would such celebs use as an excuse then when questioned by the angels of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta'ala? The Western world has often painted Islam as being oppressive of our womenfolk by our insistence that Mukminats cover themselves up properly and not be subjected to the disturbances that society often inflicts upon those who go about in public exposing their assets or beauty thereof? Hence we need to correct such misconceptions and help explain why Allahu Rabbi commands us to cover ourselves up and only expose our decorations or assets to those who have rights over us in holy matrimony and even then only in the privacy of our own homes or where others can't see us in an exposed situation? If there are amongst you who wonder why I am writing about a singer's erroneous ways, let me assure you that the main reason is I do not wish our impressionable youngsters of this country think that it's okay in Islam for any one who has reached the age of responsibility to delay adhering to the modesty code of Islam and give excuses such as the one Siti Nurhaliza is said to have given? The following poster says it all as to why Islam asks its believing women to cover themselves modestly and preserve their God given dignity? May our Muslimah, no matter who they are rise to the occasion and shine forth as the rightful heirs of Sayyidatuna Fatima Az Zahra and other luminaries of Islam who remain as our Deen's Icons of Virtue and the Queens of Allah's many Paradise's. Ameen. |

Fong Chan Onn: Clueless or Not Truthful? Posted: 16 Jul 2012 05:53 PM PDT Together with Nurul Izzah Anwar, MP for Lembah Pantai, we have exposed in our press conference last Tuesday that 45.9MW or 32.4% of the allocation to supply solar power has gone to 12 companies owned by Suzi Suliana bt Mohd Sidek and her husband, Todd Michael Morath, as well as 2 business partners. Their ownership is hidden via a complex layer of holding companies and joint ventures. Suzi Suliana happens to be the daughter of Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan, the recently retired Chief Secretary to the Government, and newly appointed chairman of Petronas Bhd.
Their combined allocation is much larger than established companies of Cypark and Petronas Power which received 9.2% and 7.1% of the allocation respectively. SEDA Chairman Tan Sri Dr Fong Chan Onn had insisted that “the selection was above board as it was done through an online system”. More specifically, Tan Sri Dr Fong explained that “the companies had met all the necessary technical criteria as well as financial commitments”. However, I had further highlighted the fact that at least 8 out of 12 companies successful companies were set up on 11 November 2011, exactly 3 weeks before the 2nd December 2011 application deadline. The rest of the companies were all set up less than 6 months before the deadline. What is worse is the fact that 9 of the above companies had paid up capital of only RM100 each! Hence the obvious question to ask SEDA and its honourable chairman is, how is it that brand new companies with only RM100 paid up capital had met “all the necessary technical criteria as well as financial commitments”? Instead of disclosing how these technical criteria and financial commitments were met, Tan Sri Dr Fong Chan Onn had threatened to sue me for defamation. He further added, "the lawyers are looking into it. I mean if you have a company, you registered yesterday and apply today, I can't reject (your application) right?" Based on the above reply, I am only more certain than ever that he is either completely clueless or is not telling the truth to the public. The 18-page Feed-in Approval Application Form (Solar PV >72kWp) specifically requires a “site use agreement” for the proposed site to farm the solar energy (Page 2). In addition, the application requires very specific financing compliance, that is either in the form of “conditional letter(s) of approval from the entity(ies) who will be providing financing to the Applicant for the project” or a “bank account statement showing a credit balance of at least the total capital cost of the renewable energy installation”. In addition, even if the project is to be financed, “the Applicant’s bank account statement showing a credit balance of at least 20% of the total capital cost of the renewable energy installation.” Can a company which is freshly set up only 3 weeks before the application deadline meet the above fairly onerous requirements? What’s more for a company which is only set up a day before the deadline as clarified by Tan Sri Dr Fong. What is worse is the fact that we are not talking about 1 company securing a small allocation of say, 1MW. What we are seeing here is the fact that the Feed-in Approval Holders have been awarded to 12 different newly set up companies with no track record and no employees, belonging to the same set of shareholders, taking up 32.4% of the solar energy quota. Of course, it is a mere coincidence that the key shareholder happens to be the daughter of our recently retired Chief Secretary to the Government and newly appointed Petronas Chairman, Tan Sri Sidek Hassan. Regardless of whether Tan Sri Dr Fong Chan Onn or SEDA decides to proceed with the legal suit against me, they both owe an honest explanation to Malaysians as to how these companies were “successful” with their applications, while many other qualified companies were not even able to secure a single license. |
