M'sian Insider : Najib, Anwar in Jakarta, possible meeting

JUNE 15, 2013

KUALA LUMPUR, June 15 - Najib Razak and political arch-rival Anwar Ibrahim are in Jakarta today, fueling talk of a meeting that could help the prime minister face down possible rivals in parliament and his own party

The Malaysian Insider understands that the meeting has been in the works for at least a week

Najib is facing a likely challenge in the Umno elections this year end

and possible motion of no confidence after parliament convenes on June 24.

It is learnt that Zahid Hamidi, who is close to both leaders, has been tasked to facilitate the meeting.

Zahid was (once) Anwar ally and Umno Youth leader who used the Indonesian term KKN for corruption, cronyism and nepotism

Aides to both leaders are tight lipped about the meeting

sources say duo have a common interest in preventing other challengers for the prime minister's post.

Tengku Razaleigh has been meeting disgruntled (BN) lawmakers this past week to discuss his leadership bid

Muhyiddin Yassin has been coy about a possible challenge in Umno polls this year end.

"..Najib is facing twin strikes against him, so he needs to find some allies," another source told The Malaysian Insider

Princess Diana's Hidden Ancestral Secret Revealed.

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 08:40 PM PDT

Once upon a time, a woman from India named Eliza Kewark was shunned by her family because of her race.

The father of her child referred to her as the "housekeeper" and the "purported mother" of their daughter, Katharine.

Katharine was sent off without her mother to England, and that's where this story might have ended. But Katherine gave birth to Jane, who gave birth to Ruth, who had another Ruth, who had Frances, who had Diana.

As in Princess Diana.

Which means that Great Britain will, one day, have a monarch with Indian blood, and the Commonwealth will be led by a king with a clear genetic link to its most populous nation.

Eliza Kewark is Prince William's great-great-great-great-great-grandmother. She has long been described as Armenian, but Kewark was at least half-Indian, the genetic ancestry testing company BritainsDNA announced today.

BritainsDNA says it is confident of Kewark's lineage because it traced Williams' mitochondrial DNA, or mtDNA, which is passed down from mother to child. BritainsDNA took saliva samples from two unnamed members of the royal family and traced it back seven generations to Kewark, who was born around 1790.

Kewark's mtDNA is so rare, BritainsDNA said, that it has only been found in 14 other people, all but one of whom was Indian (the other one was Nepali).

"It is therefore likely that Prince William has not only inherited a small proportion of Indian DNA from Eliza Kewark but her heirs will also carry it," BritainsDNA said today.

According to the biography "The Real Diana," by Lady Colin Campbell, Kewark's background was known but kept quiet by a family that was full of Europeans descended from royalty.

"Eliza Kewark was a dark-skinned native of Bombay who had lived, without benefit of matrimony, with her great-great-grandfather Theodore Forbes while he worked for the East India Company," "The Real Diana" reads.

"Unsavory as the taint of illegitimacy was, even at that distance in time, it was nothing compared with the stigma of what was then known as 'colored blood.' Had it been generally known that Ruth [Diana's great-grandmother] and her children were part-Indian, they might never have made good marriages. Eliza's true race was therefore expunged from the family tree and she reemerged as an Armenian. This fiction was maintained even when Diana married the Prince of Wales."

But times have changed and, today, and the family of Diana, who died in a car accident in 1997, celebrated their Indian heritage.

Mary Roach, Princess Diana's maternal-aunt, told The Times, "I always assumed that I was part-Armenian so I am delighted that I also have an Indian background."

the eagles flew

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 10:26 PM PDT

The weather was hazy
Along the clouds in the sky
The eagles flew flapping wings
The white smog filled air

On the ground the vehicles move
Emitting smog caring nothing about
The drivers were eager to speed
The destinations they seek to go

Around the corner
The vehicles parked obstructing traffic
The banks were the culprit
Establishing it near to town areas

The enforcement were weak
The day there was no police
Every driver could park as he liked
About law? What to expect?

Even the dogs stray as they were
They could laze around at stalls and shady spots
They knew no enforcement would come
They had a time of their lives

The eagles flew
Eyes looking for preys to steal
There were nothing in sight
The smog filled air made the blanket nice

The small animals
They could live with sigh of relief
They knew they could enjoy
The short spell of the haze

The black dressed people
Walking on the road
The black dogs would bark
The eyes fierce and tails high

There were trained
Hating the black colour
The black dressed people
They took precaution on the road

The owners would shout
Come back here silly dogs!
Stay put where you are!”
The black dogs picked up ears

The eagles flew
Watching the scenes on the ground
The sun rays couldn't be felt
Only the movements capturing eyes

The political adventures
The Black 505 had its shows
EC kept low
The ruling elites got agitated

The eagles flew
Marking its moments of its flight
The problems will not go away
The rain will come washing it

95% Want To See Contests In UMNO Elections.

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 07:05 PM PDT

Ok folks its been three days since the last poll where I asked if you agreed if there should not be any contests for the UMNO leadership positions.

I am stopping the poll. Looks like the red beans, green beans and the Starbucks people have all voted. I have 1440 votes so far of which 95% (1375 votes) DO NOT AGREE that there should not be contests for the top leadership positions in UMNO.

In otherwords 95% of those who polled want to see contests in the UMNO elections.

Only a measly 4% of votes (66 votes out of 1440) do not want contests. 66 votes is about the size of the Majlis Tertinggi,  the Youth Exco plus some of their hangers on.

I hope the presiden's advisors and punahsihat take note of this. Ini bukan main-main.

And taken together with the earlier Poll where 75% of respondents (out of over 1700) do not support Najib as prime minister anymore, well they better take cognisance. You ignore such information at your peril.

I received an sms asking me to run another Poll.  Again I only wish I could tell you siapa yang sms. The sms said :  "Hope you can run another poll as to who in UMNO or BN can lead the party to a better showing."

This is an interesting way of phrasing the question - "who in UMNO or BN.." Meaning it could even be someone outside UMNO but inside BN!!  Options are getting wider?

So I have decied to run this Poll. It is simple.

Given the following choices, who would you choose to be our PM for the next five years ?

1. Najib Tun Razak
2. Muhyiddin Yassin
3. Ali Rustam
4. Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah
5. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed
6. Tun Daim Zainuddin

I know there can be more names on the list but there have to be cut offs.

So please may I have your kind participation. It will really help to indicate things for aspirants.

Parang bengkok gunanya hanya untuk menebas semak samun sahaja

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 09:27 PM PDT

Kedua-duanya 'desperate'.

the game begins

Ku Li plots
A post he lost
Now he tries
The last round

Anwar Ibrahim
The patience he missed
When the opportunity came
He didn't take it

The made up cases
He fought it through
He lived to tell
He still never learns his patience

Now he should join force
With Ku Li to change
The political landscape
The country needs

Age isn't on both sides
If Ku LI can muster his game
The country will see a change
There is no need to set sail

With Pakatan helps
With Ku Li getting his colleagues
There is an opportunity
Anwar shouldn't let go

It is the Nation
Any leader should remember
We want the change
If that is the opportunity why miss it?

"Don't Be Soft"

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 09:03 AM PDT

Old Nyanyuk may have left his once lofty position as a Premier a while back.

But dictating terms to "lesser mortals" is what he considers a personal calling, therefore he is still at it:

Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohammad has urged the government to no longer be soft towards the opposition who continue to insult the nation's democratic system.

"We need to be a bit tough and not give them face," he told reporters after attending a dinner in conjunction with Langkawi International Dialogue (LID) 2013 here today.

He said the opposition who wanted to recognise the people's choice changed overnight when they failed to get majority support in the 13th general election (GE13).

"Initially, they wanted to recognise the people's choice but now they want to topple the government. They reject the democratic system and opt for street demonstration."

Read this, folks, and be outraged.

We don't need a low IQ politician telling us what or what not to think. Freaking thugs-with-fancy-self-ascribed-titles that they are.

The Source Of The Problem

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 08:10 AM PDT

This is some news from Israel.

Rabbinate spends months on flaky challenge of changing the appearance of popular pastry.

After deliberating for several months on the weighty problem of burekas shapes, the Chief Rabbinate has devised a new set of conventions to ensure maximum compliance with Jewish dietary laws.

The small baked pastries, which contain a variety of different fillings, have, in Israel, traditionally been triangular shaped if they contain a dairy filling, and quadrilateral in nature if parve – that is, neither dairy nor meat.

This is all about to change, due to long-held fears from within the kashrut department (the "halal" department) of the Chief Rabbinate that the old guidelines were not being adhered to and people were becoming confused which burekas were dairy and which parve.

This is problematic, since Jewish law proscribes the consumption of dairy products for a certain number of hours – depending on different traditions – after eating meat or poultry.

The burekas-shape convention was designed so that those observing the laws of kashrut would not inadvertently partake of dairy comestibles before the prescribed number of hours had elapsed.

According to the new guidelines, it is now the parve pastries that must be either triangular or, alternatively, spiral shaped, whereas dairy burekas may be either loopy in shape or in the form of a “broad finger.”

The rabbinate has also issued rules for sweet pastries such as croissants and rogelach, stating that they must be crescent- shaped if dairy and linear if they are parve.

Bakeries failing to abide by these new guidelines will not be able to claim kosher status and will have their kashrut license revoked.

In a missive to the media, the rabbinate explained that burekas present a unique problem for observant Jews, since they are “not sold in any packaging and are frequently served without any signs that would allow someone who is observant of Jewish dietary laws to discern whether the product is dairy or parve.”

“The shape of burekas is therefore the only reasonable means through which the nature of the product can be discerned,” the rabbinate said.

“In recent years, creativity in the field of pastries has greatly increased, thank God, and the range of tastes and flavors has grown along with the variety of shapes. The increased diversity has also led to an increase in mistakes however, and therefore it has been necessary for the rabbinate to establish these guidelines,” the statement to the media explained.

The process of creating the new pastry principles was begun several months ago in cooperation with the big baking conglomerates and will take affect on August 7.

The rabbinate insisted that the measures were necessary in order to comply with dietary laws, citing the seminal work on Jewish law, the Shulchan Aruch, which prohibits making dough with milk without some form of outward indication that the product is dairy in order to prevent someone from consuming it with meat.

Act Of God

I'd really like to quote a Bible verse that condemns UMNO's cheating and lying ways; maybe even invoke the wrath of God upon them.

But in the absence of miracles in this day and age, and a personal lack of prophetic abilities, I shall contend with a smug smirk at the damage on the UMNO building in Penang which occurred as a result of a freak storm.

I must say that I am impressed by the efficiency with which the Chief Minister has got his act together to deal with it.

I am particularly surprised that he has even taken it upon himself to sort out the UMNO building which belongs to his enemies.

It takes a big man to do that, and the people of Penang ought to be proud of him.

Dramatic Rise In Kids Hospitalized With High Blood Pressure: Study.

Posted: 13 Jun 2013 09:01 PM PDT

The number of children hospitalized with high blood pressure nearly doubled in a single decade, according to a new study.

Not only are more children being diagnosed with high blood pressure (hypertension), but these children also cost more to treat and stay longer in the hospital, researchers from the University of Michigan said.

"The increasing hospitalizations may in part be due to the rise in childhood obesity," said lead researcher Dr. Cheryl Tran, a pediatrician at C.S. Mott Children's Hospital, which is affiliated with the university.

"A child with high blood pressure is at increased risk of developing high blood pressure in adulthood and the long-term complications that are associated with hypertension," she added.

Counseling families and providing education on healthy diet and exercise, as well as identifying hypertension in children early on to provide the appropriate therapy, may be the first steps toward preventing the disease and its complications, Tran said.

The report was published June 18 in the Journal Hypertension.

To see the effects of hypertension, Tran's team used data from the Kids' Inpatient Database of the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project from 1997, 2000, 2003 and 2006.

They found that children diagnosed with hypertension when admitted to hospitals increased from about 12,600 in 1997 to about 24,600 in 2006.

During that period, the cost of caring for these children in hospitals increased 50 percent to an estimated $3.1 billion. This figure does not include the cost of outpatient treatment, which is unknown, the researchers noted.

The biggest increase in cost was for treating children with hypertension and end-stage kidney disease.

Children with high blood pressure stayed in the hospital twice as long as children without high blood pressure -- eight days versus four days -- the study found.

Overall, the most common reasons children were hospitalized were pneumonia-related infection, acute appendicitis and asthma. These children were likely to be older than 9, male, African-American and seen in a teaching hospital, Tran's group found.

When hypertension was the main diagnosis, it was seen most often in children with lupus, complications from a kidney transplant, pneumonia and other kidney conditions.

Dr. Joshua Samuels, a pediatrician in the department of pediatric nephrology and hypertension at the University of Texas Medical School in Houston, said the obesity epidemic is at the root of the sharp rise in children with hypertension.

"Over the last decade there has been increasing evidence that high blood pressure in children is an increasing problem and not one we can ignore," said Samuels, who wrote an accompanying journal editorial. "[And obesity] ... is the biggest risk factor for high blood pressure in children."

These children have all the risk factors for cardiovascular disease that adults have, he said.

"They are overweight, they are prediabetic, they have high blood pressure and early evidence of cardiovascular problems," he added.

If this trend is not reversed, most of these children are going to die from cardiovascular disease, Samuels said.

"They are not going to die from it now," he said. "They are going to die from it in their 30s, 40s and 50s."

About 1 percent to 3 percent of U.S. children have high blood pressure, much of which is related to obesity, according to study background information.

About 32 percent of American children aged 2 to 19 years are overweight, according to the American Heart Association. And 17 percent of children are obese, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

the green grass

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 05:58 AM PDT

The green grass
In the morning
In the day
In the night

Only when dry weather
There are patches of brown
Coming out into the season
The green grass never pulls away

They are in it together
Caring each part with hope and pray
The rain will come
God is watching whole day

The animals will wait
The day turns into month
When the grass is full grown
It is joyful time

Do we miss something?
The political cronies seem to forget
They are the green forgetting the brown
They think the land belong to them

KLIA2: Another Nor Yakcop "fraudulent" scheming?

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 09:03 PM PDT

Birds of same feather in co-hort together
We are eager and keen to start a series of issues on the "fraudulent" new Deputy Chairman cum Chairman of the Executive Committee of Khazanah, Tan Sri Nor Mohamed Yakcop.

However, the latest episode on KLIA2 with Air Asia CEO, Aireen Omar strange statement demanding for an Inquiry as highlighted by Bigdogdotcom [Read here] attracted immediate attention.

Make no bones about it, Tan Sri Tony Fernandez, or for our convenient he is to be called Tony F, had long wanted Tan Sri Bashir Ahmad Abdul Majid removed as CEO of MAHB. [Read Rocky Bru here.]

The weakness in accusing MAHB at fault for delaying the construction of KLIA2 is that it is Tony F's own doing. An expected delay in the near future will also be Tony F intentional doing too. He will twist it to be the fault of MAHB.

And again, he will demand for Bashir's removal. Busuk hati si udang geragau ini.

Our own insider in MAHB said, KLIA2 is 90% completed. There is no need for such hurrah from Tony and his Air Asia management.

In the earlier phase, it was Tony F's long list of demands that was responsible for the delay.

Our insider who knows very well the project management of KLIA2 said, Tony F's people had been involve in every step of the way from the very beginning, attend every meetings, and aware of the plans and progress.

But, they only raised issues when the particular phase was about to get started. They have endles helah and pick on issues. Being the obliging Melayu they are, MAHB played to their wishes, thus the many delays.

Then Tony F turned around to backstabbed MAHB to say publicly they did not want this and that and raised the issue that KLIA2 is over priced.

Tony Pua, who seem to be on Tony F's payroll, echoed every issue that Tony raised to add a political dimenstion to the pressure on MAHB.

That is a sneeky and dishonest way of getting things done.

In the last phase of the construction, which will involve system, there will be more encounters of the third kind between MAHB and Air Asia.

We have no details but it is basically CITA or common check-in system. Tony F will insist the airport use their system but the airport has decided on their own selected system.

Other airlines have no problem to conform to the specified system by MAHB. Dare to bet our daughter's saving in Bank Simpanan Nasional passbook that Tony will make an issue.

But there is more than that.

Despite the KLIA2 being almost 90% complete, Air Asia has not started making any preparation to move.

Part of their plan to move will involve building their own office building. Months back there was the issue of Air Asia planning to build a tower whose height is not technically and safety-wise acceptable.

Why not preparing?

Financial Storm

Our insider strongly believed Air Asia do not and never want to move to the new LCCT.

They don't care that the current LCCT is jammed and packed with the non conducive environment replicating a wet market in Chow Kit. Everyone can fly but Air Asia will treat them like maggots from the feet of houseflies.

The latest development is that Air Asia is buying time to delay financial commitment because they see a financial storm in the making for them.

Their plan to buy Indonesian Batavia Air was aborted and their boast about Indonesia being greener grass has stopped.

Air Asia Japan also closed shop. Their collaborating partner, ANA took over.Could there be more in the making?

First quarter profit down.

The perfect storm will be when Malindo Air is fully operational and is at every destination of Air Asia.

Saving Air Asia

Who does not know that Nor Yakcop, Kalimullah, Khairy and Tony F are all in cohort?

Definitely, Dato Nazir Razak of CIMB is there in the orgy. Otherwise, he would not have given words of support to the suspiciously gay Azran Osman Rani.

Azran studied at Stanford University, just cross the Golden "Gay" Bridge from San Francisco and after Sausolito. Stanford is one the first few American universities that acknowledge LGBT.

We seemed familiar with the place, do we?

He maybe gay but he is not the son of Dato berSeri-seri Anwar Ibrahim's brother, arwah Rani.

The reason Nazir is willing to embarass his own brother by supporting Azran's "official" position to tick off Utusan Malaysia is to boost confidence in Air Asia X IPO.

CIMB has got their Charles Dickens deep inside Air Asia. It means Tony F's eventual fall (God willing) can be a real bad loan headache for Nazir, CIMB and ultimately Minister of Finance, Dato Najib.

Do not forget that the whole MAS-Air Asia collaboration (CCF) win-win bull is about saving Air Asia and fleecing MAS.

Tony F has MAS staffed with all his people. [Read Wee Choo Keong's latest revelation here.] Immediately upon CCF, the main threat to Air Asia, Fireflyz was closed and Dato Eddie Leung dipencen. Nazir must save Air Asia, himself and brother.

What is there about defending bum basher Azran's reverse racism?

Suspiciously Overpriced

Thus the over priced IPO of Air Asia X.

Par value 15 sen stocks floated at 10 times price. [Read Wee Choo Keong here.]

Most likely the series of IPOs by Air Asia on the Kuala Lumpur and regional bourses was to pass the buck to the public all over the region. Remember we said that Air Asia can become a systemic risk that can result in regional crash of the regional bourse?

The problem is Air Asia X was said to have a business model issue earlier and changed it to a medium haul airline. Supposed it is now fine, how is it to sustain stable earning based on only flights?

What is this bullshit about going to North Asia when they had end tie with ANA?

Hello SC! That does not protect public investors.

Please tangkap Nazir and investigate him like how they did on Starbiz's BK Siddhu. Dare or not?

Conflict of Interest

Here is a stinky bit.

CIMB is owned by Khazanah, MAHB is subsidairy of Khazanah. While Air Asia has Khazanah as 9% only shareholders.

We are quite sure that when KLIA2 was delayed, this was made aware in MAHB and Khazanah.

Nor Yakcop maybe Khazanah's new Deputy Chairman but he had been all along a member of the Board of Directors. Not only that, Nor Yakcop is in on every other transaction of Khazanah. That will be divulge in the near future.

Some may say he is a genius and talent. If only they know better, they will realise that he is a fraud. Many of the so-called smart, educated, and urbane young people in Pemandu thinks he is a genius. So that tells about their so-called intelligence.

Financial world's all-time biggest loser

Nor Yakcop maybe seen as talking like a knowledgeable man but tell us what success has he done?

Any claim of success of his is debatable. His only success could perhaps be the Bilateral Payment Arrangement but it failed the moment oil price and CPO got out of whack.

Selective Capital Control is not just his effort. There were many that was involved. His effort was merely to suggest learning from the Chile experience. All currency trader know of that too. But, as told by my friend, we emulated China!

While his success are limited and questionable, his failures are without doubt and humongously big.

As a start, he lost RM16 billion in foreign exchange trading. The destruction of the Bumiputera Commercial and Industrial Community is several multiple more.

Nor Yakcop is the financial world's all time biggest loser. It is not enough for him to be in Malaysian Book of record, he should be in the Guiness Book of World Records.

Need we say more.

"Fraud"?

Back to MAHB, Nor Yakcop and the Board must have known and done enquiry on the delay. Otherwise, he is not doing his job and is sleeping like Pak Lah.

They would have known the reason for the delay is Air Asia. If he does not, then he is a fake who does not know what he is doing as Director.

What is he doing getting to close with Tony F to the detriment of Khazanah's more significant interest in MAHB and CIMB?

As someone who is buddy buddy with Tony F, why can't he used his friendship to achieve a win-win situation for MAHB and Air Asia?

If Nor Yakcop can threaten every corporate player in town back in the wild post-financial crisis days like he did on Tan Sri Halim Saad, Tan Sri Tajuddin and Realmild's empat budak Melayu, why can't he tell Tony F that "we will investigate you" like he did before.

Quite sure there is a lot of "fraudulent" and life threatening going-ons in the business and operational practices of Air Asia.

Basically Nor Yakcop is in collusion with Tony F and a much bigger "fraud" than the alleged fraud he did to Halim Saad.

He must be up to something. A fake and "fraud" like Nor Yakcop must be scheming something for Tony F to benefit immensely.

If there is something for Tony F, will there not be something for him too? The code among thieves: I scratch your ball, and you scratch my balls. The mistresses deal with the hard-ons.

Edited: 15/6 11:00 AM

Perhaps, some construction contract and divert some money to Dubai and return back washed clean. Or to get Tony F to support his many ventures under family proxies?

How Much Would Car Prices Come Down If Excise Duties Were Abolished?

Posted: 14 Jun 2013 03:00 AM PDT

I’ve made no secret of the fact that I’m leery of the notion that cars in Malaysia should be made cheaper. The negative externalities arising from fossil fuel use, which would be exacerbated by cheaper cars, would be a social and public cost that wouldn’t be accounted for in the retail price of cars. But leaving that aside for the moment, how much should car prices fall if the currently high
