Ladies Beware! You Can Get Hooked To Pornography

Why more and more women are using pornography It was an ordinary weekday morning when Caroline first noticed how much pornography was taking over her life. With 15 minutes to go before she was due to leave for a job interview, she opened up her laptop to print off an extra copy of her CV and there, onscreen, was a grab she'd saved from pornhub.com."I remember the feeling of being sucked in,

Could Sarawak Be DAP's Next Conquest?

GIVEN Sarawak’s ethnic and religious characteristics, it looks like the DAP’s best bet after Penang. That may not happen during this Saturday’s state polls, but some time in the future.

When the party’s supreme leader, Lim Kit Siang, declared in the Chinese-dominated Miri on April 10, that “there is something special in the air in Miri - in fact, even for Sarawak - next Saturday” the gut instinct is to accuse him of engaging in political rhetoric.

We don’t have to wait long to see the real worth of Lim’s exuberance. This Saturday’s polling in the state election will determine if indeed the DAP has a brighter future in Sarawak.

His Miri declaration is reminiscence of the Lim’s Tanjung One project in the mid-1980s that saw him unseating Dr Koh Tsu Koon from the Tanjung parliamentary seat and winning the Kampung Kolam state seat. His audacity and brinkmanship helped the DAP to win nine other state seats.

In the 1990 Tanjung Two project, Lim dethroned the late Gerakan founder and Penang Chief Minister, Dr Lim Chong Eu, from the Padang Kota (state) seat and retained the Tanjung parliamentary seat. The party was just three seats short of winning the state.

Although Tanjung Three project in 1995 and the subsequent general elections did not bear the desired results, the party’ perseverance paid off in 2008.

Could Sarawak offer a similar challenge and possibility to the DAP? To begin with, not unlike Penang, the political wind has been blowing hot and cold for the DAP in the state.

In the 2006 state polls, the DAP garnered 18.9 per cent of the votes that translated into six seats, making it the most successful opponent of the state Barisan Nasional.

The most compelling characteristic of Sarawak that suggests it could be the next conquest for the DAP is its ethnicity.

Although the natives Dayaks (the Ibans and Bidayuh) make up the bulk of the state’s population, the Chinese form the single largest cohesive group followed by the Malays and Melanaus. It is estimated that the Dayaks and other native people make up 44 per cent of the population, Chinese 26 per cent and the Malay and Melanau the remaining 30 per cent.

Lim had declared that Miri was finally waking up to the prospects of political change and might very well be in the frontline of the party’s battle to wrest Sarawak from the state BN. He said while the war was far from won, signs were looking up.

Still the DAP, with its overwhelmingly Chinese character, cannot expect a major win in the ethnically divided state unless it works with the local parties. Depending solely on its federal allies -- the PKR and Pas – is unlikely to improve its fortune.

PKR and Pas are insignificant in Sarawak. In the 2006 state polls, the former obtained only 8.6 per cent of the votes and a solitary seat while the latter a miniscule 0.3 per cent.

The failure of Pakatan Rakyat, in particular the PKR, to forge a comprehensive election pact with the state parties suggests that parochialism is a major hurdle facing any national party wanting to set foot in the state, bearing in mind that Sarawak is the only state in the federation where the BN is represented by state-based parties.

The future of the DAP is Sarawak depends on its ability to work with the state-based parties other than just the opposition Sarawak National Party (SNAP). O it could co-opt native leaders into its ranks, which will make it less of a Chinese-based party and more Sarawakian in nature.

With its vast natural wealth and huge political weight, Sarawak's is a dream state for any political party and the DAP knows that.

Sarawak First Or Taib Or Najib First?

Sarawak must come first, not Taib or Najib

Written by  Mariam Mokhtar, Malaysia Chronicle

Sarawak must come first, not Taib or Najib
The anti-BN feeling and the desire to kick Taib out of office is very high. However, Pakatan cannot keep up with the dirty tactics employed by BN to influence people. The opposition does not have enough money or manpower to keep BN in check.
Therefore, if the people of Sarawak are genuinely sincere about change, if they are serious about reform and have no other desire apart from putting Sarawak back on its own feet, then they have only one chance to do that – on 16th April.

Taib has singlehandedly reduced Sarawak to a pitiful state. He has raped the country and he will continue to rape it for as long as the Sarawakians allow it to happen.

Clare Rewcastle Brown and her website Sarawak Report as well as Peter John Jaban, who has had to fight for Sarawak from foreign shores via Radio Free Sarawak, can only do so much. They have unearthed and unmasked Taib’s evil deeds. Taib is corrupt to the core. He treats Sarawak as his personal golden goose. Few other Sarawakians benefit.

Now that Sarawak goes to the polls, Taib knows his days are numbered. Clare and Peter have put Sarawak on the map. Prime minister Najib Abdul Razak knows that if Taib were to fall, then his position is made untenable.

For that reason, he will make sure Taib, or at the very least BN, stay on in power.

People might think that this is only a Sarawakian problem. Perhaps they are right. Some might ask why we should interfere with the workings of a particular state.

How many people have truly seen how a once proud group of people now live on handouts offered by Taib and his cronies?

The way of living of the indigenous people in Sarawak is destroyed while Taib on the other hand, has prospered. His business empire spans over eight nations and four continents.

That is why we should be bothered. It is one man who has singlehandedly used and abused his people for his own advantage. We should care, because it is other human beings who need our help and support.

I have seen with my own eyes what Taib has done to his people, at a time when I worked and travelled in Sarawak. The following is my own personal account.

The indigenous people once lived in houses made of wood like belian or similar, but when they were robbed of their NCR lands, their way of living was threatened. They have had to migrate to the towns and live in slums, in shacks made of plywood with corrugated zinc as roofing material.

When once they had pure clean drinking water from the rivers in the interior, they now store water in discarded oil drums or containers which once contained chemicals.

Those who opt to remain in the interior find that the logging industry has caused silting or where oil palm plantation is the predominant industry, their sources of water are contaminated from chemical run-off.

The Iban are famed for their 'bejalai' (loose term for ‘walkabout’ in search of wealth and job opportunities) but when their land was taken, they have had to migrate to the bigger towns and eke a living from the pitiful jobs available.

They are at the mercy of the businesses or unscrupulous people who employ them for a pittance. The Iban have no skills to speak of and many fall into depression, despair, alcoholism or get sucked into criminal activites like petty theft or prostitution.

In the past, NCR lands sustained the indigenous people. Now, the land which used to grow padi has been flattened for oil palm cultivation, for factories or to make way for dams.

Without their land, and a way of life which has sustained them for centuries, the Iban and the other indigenous people of Sarawak lose their culture, and their identity.

Taib has not just robbed them of their past, but he is robbing them of their future.

Only the Sarawakians can decide how they want to progress further. If they are seriously wanting reform, they will know what to do on Arpil 16.

The aspirations of hundreds of thousands of restless Sarawakians, depend on them.

WHERE IS NAZRI HOT!!! Tiger Show by Shaila Nair a royal commission of inquiry PLEASE!

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 11:43 AM PDT

The intended proposal by Nazri Abdul Aziz to set a royal commission of inquiry to identify the actor in the pornographic recording brought about by three stooges shows that politicians have come to a stage where the political obsession to bring down a politician, has clouded the truth on the real intentions of the video recording.

It has made the search for the truth seem manipulative and selective.

This is evident when Nazri only suggested the identification of the main protogonist in video rather than taking a broader look at the issues that involves intention and motives of those behind the recordings.

It is puzzling that major scandals that has brought about the loss of millions of ringgit in public funds such as the PKFZ scandal, and the Sime Darby fiasco, does not warrant a royal commission of inquiry.

But a pornographic recording that could bring about a political score and a negative public perception of an individual opposition leader, warrants a royal commission of inquiry.

The question is: will all politicians who get caught up with sex scandals in the future be required to be investigated by a royal commission of inquiry?

How does one draw a line about sexual morals when some act in secret and get away with it, while others get caught?

Is there going to be moral policing from now on or, on the other hand, pornographic recordings would be encouraged from now on to nab politicians?

Has the public funds required to set up the royal commission of inquiry become so available that it can be spent on the whims and fancies of politicians with hidden agenda?

The right thing that should have been done in this episode was to hand over the tape to the police for investigation which could have been resolved through professionalism in determining whether the laws of the country had been broken, instead of parading unproven allegations in public that has not only embarrassed a family but also turned the issue into a political circus.

The questionable privilege given to the trio does not benefit the nation because at the end of the day, public perception would take precedence over the real truth not only about who’s the person involved in the act but also the motive and intention of producing pornography of this nature in the first place.

The central issue in this unpleasant episode is the obsession to topple Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim at all cost. The end justifies the means.

A political vendetta against an individual through hypocritical morality would not inspire public confidence.

A royal commission of inquiry should only be set up on issues of great public interest that involves governance. It is not to clear the name of political parties or to bring down individuals.

Therefore the suggestion to set a royal commission of inquiry for this episode is unwarranted because it does not meet the criteria of public interest on real issues such as corruption and abuse of power but rather a personality oriented political vendetta.

HOT!!! Tiger Show by Shaila Nair
Shaila Nair Who?
Well, she is wife of Vel Paari, son MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu …
Very hot looking wife of Vel Paari, Shaila Nair talks very dirty in this clip (in English) to her lover. He is holding the cell phone that it is being recorded on and you can hear him grunting as he plays with himself. She tells him she wants to hold his c@ck, wants to lick his c@ck and b@lls everywhere … (Oh details is too pornish to continue, please go HERE to read the rest … Actually, you can wcth it rightHERE)
Who is she really? Well, she is married to a very influential Malaysian politician and playboy. See below from the Malaysian Journal of Politics and Law. (BTW, This clip is not fuzzy and unrecognisable!)
“By Baradan Kuppusamy
KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 13 – It was not all politics at the 63rd MIC general assembly after minor celebrity Shaila Nair, a former singer turned lawyer, mother and event manager, walked into the PWTC with husband Vel Paari, and attracted numerous stares from the delegates.
Dressed in a red saree, Shaila, who saw some controversy in 2007 after a sex video clip depicting her appeared on the Internet, sat quietly with Paari among delegates near the entrance to the hall.
“People should have a heart … they should not target people,” she said when asked about the clip that had caused some embarrassment for, Paari and his father, MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu.
His political enemies circulated the clip widely and made political capital but for Shaila, 35, all that is behind her now.
“I am busy as a mother, wife, entertainer and event manager and, now, in politics,” she told The Malaysian Insider in an interview.
Controversy continues to dog her as her election as deputy chief of Puteri MIC caused controversy last month. Apparently Shaila lost in the election but was somehow “re-elected” according to Tamil newspapers hostile to Samy Vellu.
Another urban legend, she says.
“I was elected … it is that simple,” she said.
However she does not plan to develop a political career for herself although she can get significant help from her powerful father-in-law Samy Vellu who only a day earlier demonstrated his grip on the party ensuring his team of “official candidates” all won.
“It is not that I am a political greenhorn … I was a council member of Puteri for one term. But I just want to help and serve, not be a politician,” she said. “The family is already in politics.”
She practised as lawyer for six years before switching to singing and event management and managing a bridal house and boutique.
MIC Puteri’s challenge, she feels, is to bring in new members into the wing as many are also young voters and if they enter MIC they would also be convinced to vote for the MIC and Barisan Nasional.
“This is our main challenge … to convince young people, to attract them to get political with the MIC,” she said.
Her daughter Bhavya Vel, 10, is studying in Alice Smith, an elite International school, and is keen on design and drawing just like granddad Samy, who is an architect.
Shaila came into prominence as a singer when she was 16 and sang Tamil, Malay and Hindi songs. She recorded one album before she got married and moved into event management.
A search on the Internet shows various blurry unrecognisable clips under the title “Shaila” still circulating on some websites along with nasty comments.
Here are two chicks entertaining a lucky fellow and his camera with some hot girl-on-girl action. You know, I honestly thought they were going to do something awesome with that vacuum cleaner but they didn’t. Hope you are not disappointed, I know I was… Anyway, remember to send more interesting pictures and videos (of individuals 18 year-old or older) to GutterUncensored.comcontributor email and leave comments on the Facebook fan

PRN Sarawak: Pelanduk & Jerat - Sayang Semuanya

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 11:52 AM PDT

Sebelum korang baca artikel penuh gua, gua harap lu orang dapat singgah dekat sini, sini, sini, sini, sini, sini, & sini sebagai bahan rujukan terpenting untuk abad ini.Mekasih...

A military history of Britain's imperial retreat

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 10:50 AM PDT

The history of Britain' s post-WWII imperial shrinkage is a worthwhile theme for deep thinking. Agree or disagree with it, The Imperial War Museum Book of Modern Warfare: British & Commonwealth Forces At War, 1945-2000 (London, Pan Books, 2002), edited by Major- General Julian Thompson, provides a very useful framework for reference and the construction of alternative accounts of those post-WWII conflicts.

The Day Hang Tuah Walked Through My Door

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 09:50 AM PDT

The Day Hang Tuah Walked Through My Door

Everyone knows who Hang Tuah is. Everyone knows that he was a great warrior, that he was loyal to his king, that he fought and defeated Hang Jebat in a gruelling duel. But I knew more about Hang Tuah than anyone else. No... I didn't read more than anyone else (how much more could a twelve-year-old have read anyway?). I knew more about Hang Tuah because he came to live with us a few months ago.

Yes, you heard me right. Hang Tuah did come to live with me and my family. Abah took him home one day. He had found the old man walking around the local playground one evening, while he was out jogging. It was getting dark and the old man had no place to go, so we took him in. Mak was not too happy about that, she thought the old man looked crooked. He was dirty and he didn't wear shoes. Mak said that people might think our family has gone weird. Abah just laughed. "Kasihan ...dia orang tua," he said.

My friends didn't believe me at first. They thought I was dreaming, or making things up, or just plain lying.

Azraai said that the old man was an alien from Mars and not Hang Tuah. Eqhwan laughed at me and said that either I or the old man must be mad. Anuar said that if Hang Tuah was still alive I wouldn't be able to understand what he said because he spoke classic Malay like in the hikayats. Hilmi (our local school's smart alec) tried to explain to me that the Melaka Empire was no more and that Hang Tuah was just a legend. He said that if Hang Tuah was still alive he would be at least five and a half centuries old and the latest edition of the Guinness Book of World Records stated that the oldest man in the world lived only to 120 years. Only Farid sympathised with me... and that was because he had an imaginary friend whom he always took along to play marbles with us.

I really didn't care what they said. I knew that old man was Hang Tuah. I know because I asked him myself.

The morning after we took the old man in, Mak asked me to wake him up for breakfast. I went to the spare room and found that he was already awake. He was sitting on the edge of the bed with a blue batik bundle on his lap.

"Jemput makan, Tok," I said, politely.

"Terima kasih," he said.

I was curious, so I asked, "Apa dalam buntil tu Tok?"

"Barang Tok... barang orang miskin," he replied.

Then he opened it up slowly. I saw him fiddle for something, then he took out a long keris with an ivory sheath. It was at least a foot long and studded with jewels.

"Ini keris Taming Sari," said the old man.

I snickered, "He! He! He!". I thought the old man was joking. Everyone knew that Taming Sari belonged to Hang Tuah and that it must have disappeared with its master.

The old man looked up at me. His eyes stared into mine. I felt a little queasy at that. His expression changed, he began to look angry. Suddenly his eyes drooped and he looked more hurt than angry.

"Kenapa cucu gelak?" he asked.

"Tak ada kenapa," I answered, a little frightened.

"Tok tahu, cucu ingat Tok bergurau." I kept quiet.

He began again, "Inilah keris Taming Sari yang sebenar. Ini keris Tok sendiri."

"Kalau begitu Tok ni tentulah..."

"Hang Tuah," he interjected, "nama Tok ialah Hang Tuah."

"Tapi Hang Tuah sudah mati."

He laughed, "Tidak, Tok belum mati. Tapi Tok sudah tua..."

"Berapa umur Tok?" I questioned.

"540 tabun."

Mak didn't really like Tok Tuah. But she didn't say anything when he just stayed on and on in the house. She didn't say a word when Abah and I took him to Hankyu Jaya to get some new clothes. She just kept quiet when Tok Tuah joined us to watch TV in the living room after dinner. I told her (and Abah) that the old man said that his name was Hang Tuah. She wrinkled her face (and Abah just laughed).

It was a Wednesday night and RTM had a slot then called "Teater P. Ramlee". It so happened that they were showing Phani Majumdar's "Hang Tuah". P. Ramlee, so young and thin, acted as the hero and the late Haji Mahadi was Sultan Mansor Shah.

When Jebat got killed, Tok Tuah pipped in, "Tidak langsung macam tu..."

Abah stared at Tok Tuah. Mak stared at Tok Tuah. I too, stared at Tok Tuah.

"Aku sudah tua masa tu, Jebat muda lagi. Jebat kuat. Dia sepak aku hingga aku tertiarap, kemudian aku berguling. Aku himpit dia. Aku kata sama dia 'baik sajalah kau mengalah'. Apa gunanya kita dua bersaudara bergaduh?"

Mak started to look worried again.

"Jebat tak mati."

Abah looked surprised. He said, "Habis tu, apa jadi pada dia?"

Tok Tuah said, "Aku tak mahu Sultan bunuh dia. Aku tahu Sultan zalim. Jadi, aku sorokkan dia di Ulu Melaka. Macam Tun Perak sorokkan aku masa aku difitnahkan. Lepas Melaka kalah dengan Portugis, Jebat ikut aku merantau."

I said, "Bila Jebat mati?"

Tok Tuah laughed, "Jebat belum mati. Baru tahun lepas aku jumpa dia. Dia meniaga di Kedah."

"Meniaga?" I said.

"Ya, Jebat duduk di Kulim. Dia meniaga kereta. Apa tu? Kereta 'second-hand' kata orang. Proton, Honda dan Nissan. Laku jualannya. Banyak orang beli."

One day, I took Tok Tuah on a walk around KL. He got bored just sitting in our small bungalow in Bukit Bandar Raya. So after school, we took the mini-bus to Central Market. Tok Tuah really enjoyed the walk. "Banyaknya orang..." he wondered. We ate at McDonald's. He didn't like the cheeseburger (well, he didn't like the cheese, though he loved the burger itself). After lunch, we went to Muzium Negara.

I showed him the frieze of a young Hang Tuah which was sculpted by an Englishwoman in the 1950s. It showed a handsome Hang Tuah in 'Baju Melayu' and 'samping'. He was holding Taming Sari in his hand.

"Siapa tu," Tok Tuah asked.

"Itu Tok-lah. ltulah orang putih gambarkan sebagai Hang Tuah. Hensem, kan?"

Tok Tuah chuckled, "Apa tulisan atas tu?"

"Ta' Melayu Hilang di-Dunia. Eh, takkan Tok tak ingat? Itu kan Tok yang cakap dulu?"

He kept quiet. Slowly he mumbled, "Ta' Melayu Hilang di-Dunia? Tak ingat pun."

Suddenly, he started, "Oh! Bukannya Ta' Melayu Hilang di-Dunia. Silap tu. Tok tak pernah cakap macam tu..."

"Habis tu?" I asked.

"Masa tu Tok tengah pergi masjid untuk sembahyang Maghrib. Isteri Tok ikut sekali. Dia tengah ambil air sembahyang di tepi perigi, kemudian kakinya tergelincir. Dia terjatuh masuk. Orang ramal pun menjerit-jerit sebab perigi itu dalam. Apa lagi, Tok pun terjunlah untuk selamatkan dia. Isteri Tok bukan sebarang orang, namanya Tun Sa'odah, anak Bendahara Tun Perak."

"Kemudian?" I urged.

"Bila Tok bawak dia naik, Temenggung Tun Mutahir ketawa. Katanya, Tok sayang betul pada isteri Tok. Tok pun jawab, "Mestilah... Ta' Isteriku Hilang di-Telaga. Jadi, mungkin orang silap dengar...!"

Tok Tuah stayed with our family for more than six months. He stayed at home in the first few weeks but he felt guilty not doing anything to contribute. So, one morning, he followed Abah to work. Abah was manager of a factory in Sungai Buluh which made video tapes and CDs. They needed a new 'jaga' or watchman. Tok Tuah got the job. Abah said, "Who better to guard us than the great Malay admiral Hang Tuah?"

The workers got along well with him. Amin, Abah's driver, said that Tok Tuah told them lots of funny jokes about Sultan Mansor of Melaka and his fifteen wives. Tok Tuah also got to know Rajalinggam, the sweeper, who he said reminded him of Mani Purindan, the father of Bendahara Tun Ali. Like Rajalinggam, Mani Purindan too came from Tamil Nadu and cooked delicious dhal curry.

One morning, my teacher at school said, "Tomorrow I want you all to bring a model of an old artefact. Then I want you all to explain its importance in front of the whole history class."

Hilmi (always the teacher's pet) spent days working on a matchstick model of the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station. Azraai decided to build a spaceship instead. Eqhwan bought Anuar's origami keris for fifteen dollars and brought that to school. Farid asked his imaginary friend to draw a picture of Mel Gibson as Sir William Wallace. I? Well, I just brought Tok Tuah along.

My teacher was flabbergasted. She said, "Why have you brought this 'jaga' along?"

I smiled, "He's not just a 'jaga'. He's the great warrior Hang Tuah!"

My teacher said, "I'll call your father and tell him you're playing jokes in class."

"Please, Cikgu. Just listen to what he has to say," I insisted.

Tok Tuah stood in front of the class. He coughed. My teacher sighed. I smiled. My friends sneered. "Assalamualaikum," he said. "Wa'alaikum Salam," we answered.

Tok Tuah began his speech. He started out by saying that the Melaka we read about in the history books was very different from the real Melaka. He explained how the Sultan used to let anyone come to the palace with any complaints at all, and he would settle it there and then. He told us that he and his four friends used to go on tours to Pahang and Terengganu and Ujung Tanah, even to Siam, on great galliards with five big sails. He described to us that Melaka had 120,000 citizens, each of whom had land and houses of their own and that no beggars were allowed to go even a day without food and shelter. He mimicked Sultan Mansor's snarl, and Tun Perak's twitching handlebar moustaches and Jebat's swaggering walk. Finally, he told us how Melaka got corrupted by its wealth and warned us not to do the same now.

That day, Tok Tuah got a standing ovation. Even Teacher clapped. I? I got an 'A' for History.

Tok Tuah died seven weeks after that. He was 542 years old. It was during the Puasa month and he took the LRT from Sungai Buluh. He wanted to stop and buy some sweetmeats (he absolutely loved 'pau kaya'). When he arrived at Chow Kit station, he collapsed on the platform with a massive stroke.

They rushed him in an ambulance to Kuala Lumpur General Hospital but he was already gone. He didn't feel a thing.

We buried him at Ampang Cemetery, right across from the grave of Tan Sri P. Ramlee, who played him in that film. I visit the grave sometimes just to tell him that I'm now a lecturer in Malay History at Leyden University.

I still remember the day he walked through my door. It's as if it was just yesterday. Ah, well...

By the way, did I tell you I met King Henry VIII whilst I was studying in Cambridge? He worked as a night porter at my college. But that, as they say, is a different story.

SUPP President Has Succession Plan

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 09:00 AM PDT

MIRI, April 11 (Bernama) -- SUPP president Tan Sri Dr George Chan Hong Nam, a favourite target of the DAP, said that he has a succession plan while the opposition party has none.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the DAP should look at its own backyard before poking its nose in the internal affairs of another party.
"Did (DAP Advisor) Lim Kit Siang tell us about his succession plan? How about Karpal (Singh) and the Chongs?," he asked, referring to Sarawak DAP founder Chong Siew and his son, state party secretary Chieng Jien.
"We never ask about their succession plan because we all know that theirs is a dynasty. We don't have a dynasty," he told Bernama.
Chan has helmed the state Barisan Nasional's second largest party since 1996.
The DAP, which faces SUPP in 15 constituencies, has been targeting Chan's leadership of SUPP in its campaign for the state election on Saturday.
"Of course I know who is going to succeed me," Chan said.
"The 300 youth leaders that I have will give me an indication whether I am right or not in my choice.
"It is important that they accept him so the party can go full force (forward)," he added.

A Malaysian “Public Intellectual” and the Sex Video Farce

A Malaysian “Public Intellectual” as Deus ex machina and the Sex Video Farce

by Dr Kua Kia Soong@www.malaysiakini.com

Watching toads jump from one political party to another has become a sport Malaysians are quite used to. But when it comes to “public intellectuals”, their shift from staunch critic to apologist of the Barisan Nasional Government still evokes incredulous amusement among honest intellectuals.

Chandra Muzaffar‘s fallout with PKR, instead of taking him further left as intellectuals such as Noam Chomsky have done, seems to have taken him further right.

Nowadays, he is wheeled out as the deus ex machina in any BN-staged farce. [Deus ex machina was literally a god brought on stage in classical drama by a mechanical contrivance to resolve difficulties in the plot]

So, true to the BN script involving the sex video, Dr Chandra also wants a Royal Commission of Inquiry:

Chandra said it was the wrongdoer and not those who exposed the wrongdoing that should be targeted.” (NST 10.4.11)

He said the three datuks were not the wrongdoers and proceeded – as in the BN script with the accompanying media screenplay – to challenge Anwar Ibrahim to clear himself:

Chandra, who is now a social activist and an academician, also gave his support for the establishment of a royal commission of inquiry (RCI) to determine the identity of the man in the video despite objections from Anwar’s family and supporters. He said they should have no compunctions about the establishment of the royal panel if they were convinced that Anwar had done no wrong.

However, he warned the opposition leader of serious repercussions if it was proven otherwise, “as others in similar circumstances have done“.

Now if I was to follow the example of the three datuks (Datuk T) and showed a sex video involving someone who looks like Chandra, would he even deign to entertain my challenge that he proves that the man in the video is not him?

I don’t think Chandra would nor should he! For, do we really need a RCI for a case that could be easily solved with elementary police work? I don’t think Sherlock Holmes would even deign to take up such a case. We expect RCIs to enquire into matters of greater public importance.

Now, the difference in the three datuks’ sex-video case is, Anwar Ibrahim has made a police report. That being the case, it is up to the police to take action to see whether there is any truth that these three impeccably moral datuks are “whisleblowers” who are trying to save us from an immoral politician or they are vexatious villains who are trying to fix and defame the leader of the Opoosition.

The police have thus to find out who the man in the sex video is; and if the man is not Anwar Ibrahim, they have to charge the three moral datuks for blowing the job at trying to be whistleblowers, under the appropriate purveying pornography laws.

The mainstream media will also have to carry the can for the elaborate scheme to defame a politician. Do they ever feel shame? It amazes me how our police could ever apprehend international terrorists when they cannot find out who the man in the sex video is and there is supposed to be a whole 15-minute sequence of him in the act.

It further amazes me how the police have detained more than 10,000 people under the ISA since 1960 and out of these, we have not heard of any international terrorists amongst them.

On the other hand, Mat Top the alleged Malaysian terrorist who was killed by the Indonesian police and linked to the Bali bombings had never been detained under the ISA!

What does this tell us about the ISA? And what does this tell us about the Malaysian police? It is time for the police to redeem themselves and spare us this tiresome sex-video farce and the equally tiresome pronouncements of the BN’s deus ex-machina.

The mountain moves to Sarawak!

The battle of Nagashino.I watch with trepidations PM Najib's decision to move the entire cabinet to Sarawak presently. But then who would want to listen to a has-been ex adun right? I am wondering whether the words spoken by a former VVIP UMNO leader to me will turn out to be prophetic. He said, the previous PM was fond of the number 13. It brought him to a calamitous end. SARAWAK ELECTION – A PICTORIAL UP-DATE

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 06:13 AM PDT

By the Administrator

A new dawn is awaiting Sarawak, the Land of the Hornbills, with plenty of resources being ruthlessly plundered by the BN ruling regime, leaving the people especially the Natives subject to destitution, oppression, and inhuman exploitation. Pakatan Rakyat offers some of the alternatives as follows :

@ Within one year to change the Sarawak Land Code, to return land to the people but not the timber tycoon

@ To set up a RM 1 billion Poverty Eradication Fund to give to low income families

@ To enact laws to ensure a competent, accountable, and clean government and professionalism in governance

@ To oppose to religious discrimination, all the religions be given freedom to practice, including freedom to use any language in religious ceremonies

@To assist the senior citizens who reached the age of 60 with an annual welfare aid of RM400 each

Believe It or Not?

Believe It OR Not?

When I was a boy many, many years ago, growing up in Alor Setar, I used to buy Beano in addition to  Captain Marvel, Superman, Donald Duck and Mickey Mouse comics. In BEANO, I remember looking and laughing at  the Believe It or NOT cartoons. I thought that was a passing phase in my life, until today when I came across this poster (above)in Haris Ibrahim (MCLM)’s FACEBOOK. I nearly fell of my chair. Well, I said to myself, I should share it with you, guys and gals.

How incredulous this poster can be, knowing fully well that Taib Mahmud is nothing if not corrupt to the core, that he has abused power, betrayed the trust of his  people, enriched himself, his family members and cronies over several decades (I call this phenomenon Taibism) at the expense of the people of Sarawak and let his BN colleagues down badly. The Ibans,Penans and others of Sarawak too have been robbed of the Native Customary Rights, their Forests and other resources including oil. The mergastua including our close relatives, the Orang Utan and beruks too are complaining of the destruction to their sanctuary.

This woman (above left) who,I suspect, is normally polite, respectful  and gentle of orang besars has to finger her beloved Ketua Menteri. This means change is coming to Sarawak, and the Prime Minister and his Cabinet colleagues who are now campaigning very hard to win on April 16, 2011 cannot take Sarawakians for granted. This is because the  Opposition Pakatan Rakyat is having a field day poking fun at the Taib Administration, drawing huge crowds to their election rallies throughout the nooks and corners of the Land of the Hornbills and winning their hearts and minds.–Din Merican

Singapore Army Jokes

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 05:59 AM PDT

Many of you would have seen the photo from Singapore which had a Singaporean soldier strolling along empty-handed, while his poor domestic helper followed carrying his military backpack.Needless to say, this was a howler of a picture, the guy was condemned left right and center.

As a side note, this is one fine example of my usual rants against people who "mistreat" their maids. The same people who go shopping and then have the maid lugging tons of packages, plastic bags, etc. (way over what a normal person should) while they themselves should nothing, worse is when their children also tag along shouldering zilch. What are we teaching our children??? They are our help, not slaves. Imagine your mum or sister having to work as domestic help in an overseas country, and seeing her doing that - how do you feel, and why.

Anyway, the photo brought on a whole load of jokes about the "supposedly pampered" Singapore military. Nury Vittachi put some up in his column in SCMP:

http://thestandard.com.hk/news_detail.asp?we_cat=5&art_id=109980&sid=31985086&con_type=1&d_str=20110411&fc=1

A NATO soldier, standing guard in the rain with a 20-kilogram pack on his back, says: "Life is hard." A People's Liberation Army soldier, standing in snow in an ill-fitting uniform, with a long march ahead, says: "Life is hard." A Singaporean army cadet, taking his iPad out of the pack his maid carried, says: "No wi- fi? WTF?"

The commander sees the hopeless results of Private Tan's shooting exercises and his face falls. Tan, knowing he has done badly, says: "Sorry, sir. I feel like going to a quiet corner and shooting myself." The commander says: "Good idea, la. I suggest you take a LOT of bullets."

Private Lim fails basic training and reports to the commander for punishment. The officer says: "Choose your own forfeit. One month's loss of privileges, or 20 days' pay." The Singapore cadet thinks about it. "I guess I'll take the money."

As a joint exercise of Southeast Asian forces gets under way, a Malaysian general says to a Thai colonel: "I just discovered something that does the work of 50 soldiers." The Thai asks: "Really? What is it?" The Malaysian replies: "Two hundred Singaporean soldiers."

The term "secure the building" means different things to different military personnel. NATO troops: "Occupy the premises and prevent anyone else entering." US Marines: "Make an all-sides armed assault on the place, and then defend it with suppressive fire." Singapore soldiers: "Take out a three-year lease with an option to buy."

Seven ways the Singapore army is trying to boost recruitment: 7) Military transport flights now offer frequent-flier miles; 6) Superiors can be addressed as "Dude;" 5) Walkie- talkies replaced with latest iPhones; 4) There's always plenty of parking at the mall when you're driving a tank; 3) Radar screen toggles with user's Facebook page; 2) New uniform to be issued in Ermenegildo Zegna herringbone, with silk Hermes lining; 1) Rations now include freeze-dried Starbucks latte.

The three golden rules for Singapore cadets: 1) If it doesn't move, hide behind it; 2) If it does move, surrender to it; 3) If it has four legs and isn't a table, eat it.

A Singapore radio station receives a call. "This is the military. Can you tell us the exact time?" The deejay asks: "Who wants to know?" The caller says: "What difference does that make?" The deejay explains: "If you're spies, it's three o'clock. If you're pilots, it's 15:00 hours. If you're navy guys, it's six bells. If you're local army cadets, it's 120 minutes to happy hour."

Fact Sheet On Alkitab Controversy — By Michael Chua.

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 05:17 AM PDT

The recent government offer was released to the public on April 2 evening. The headlines of the news in some mainstream media appear to imply that the issue has been resolved. This fact sheet seeks to clarify the Catholic Church’s present position and future course of action.

Has the matter of Alkitab been resolved?

No. Since, this is a new offer from the government, the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) would need to meet and deliberate on this matter. In respect of the last offer from the government (March 22), the component bodies of the CFM, namely the National Evangelical Christian Fellowship (NECF), Council of Churches of Malaysia (CCM) and the Catholic Bishops Conference (CBC), engaged in wider consultation with their leaders, both from peninsula as well as from Sabah and Sarawak. On March 31, CFM issued a statement rejecting the offer of March 22 to have the Alkitab stamped with the words “For Christianity” and said that any solution needs to be tied to wider issues concerning religious freedom, e.g. use of religious words (“Allah”), display of symbols, places of worship.

Have all restrictions been removed in the government’s latest 10-point formula?

No. No restrictions have been imposed on the import, publication and distribution of the Alkitab in Sabah and Sarawak whereas some restrictions have been imposed for the situation in Peninsular Malaysia. In other words, the government’s latest proposal provides a two-standard policy — one for east Malaysia and another for Peninsular Malaysia.

The reasons cited by the press statement of Senator Idris Jala are that this two-standard policy reflects the size of the Christian community on both sides of the South China Seas. As, Muslims are the majority in Peninsular Malaysia, such restrictions have to be imposed.

What are the restrictions imposed on the copies in Peninsular Malaysia?

The word “Christian Publication” (Penerbitan Kristian) and cross will be printed or stamped on the cover.

In fact, the Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM) has already been stamping these bibles with the wording and cross since 2005, pursuant to an agreement between CFM and the government. After a long period of harassment, detentions, imposition of unilateral conditions by government, the CFM came up with this proposal in 2005 and presented in to the then-Prime Minister, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, who accepted it. Subsequently, a letter from the Home Ministry was issued to confirm the government’s acceptance of this proposal.

But the agreement of 2005 was only honoured by the Home Ministry in one shipment. Thereafter, additional restrictions and conditions were imposed which eventually led to a series of detentions and finally the two-year detention of 5,100 copies of the Alkitab in Port Klang in 2009.

Please note that there is no legal jurisdiction for the stamping or imposition of conditions on the Alkitab. The above detentions, proscriptions and imposition of conditions have been done at the administrative level, often citing one reason or the other.

What happens now?

The CFM would have to meet to decide on this latest offer, after extensive consultation with all stakeholders. We are not sure when this will take place.

How should the “silence” or delay in decision-making be interpreted?

The silence of the leadership should not be interpreted as a lack of action. Perhaps, the following explanation can be given:

Due to the gravity of the issue and its relation to other matters concerning religious freedom (Herald case, use of the word “Allah”), wider consultation is required. Leaders would also need to consult their own constituents, lawyers and advisers.

There is no hurry for us to come up with an answer for the government’s latest offer, even thought the government seem to have a dateline (Sarawak election on April 16). We should not be dictated by the timetable set by the government but rather the prompting of the Holy Spirit in our deliberations.

Our Christian leaders and bishops are asking all the faithful to act in solidarity with the CFM’s last position and keep this matter in prayer, especially before the Blessed Sacrament.

PM Boosts BN's Offensive With Four Days To Sarawak Election

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 04:34 AM PDT

KUCHING, April 11 (Bernama) -- The Barisan Nasional (BN) forged ahead with its message to transform Sarawak as candidates raced against the clock with four days left before polling opens for the 10th Sarawak state election.
The next few days would see political parties going all out to woo over fence sitters in the state's most keenly-contested polls in which 71 seats are for grabs.
On the ground to lend a hand were Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his deputy, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who visited interior areas to speak to longhouse residents about the government's development plans and action on native customary rights (NCR) land.
Addressing over 1,000 residents of Spaoh, about 50km from Betong, Najib said the federal government had set aside huge allocations for Sarawak's development, including RM5.7 billion under the National Key Result Areas for 2010-2012.
"The allocation for Sarawak is the biggest compared to other states. Under the 1Malaysia concept, projects implemented are not based on ethnicity," said Najib as he underlined the government's commitment to uplift the lives of the people especially those in the rural areas.
Slamming allegations by the opposition, he said the government had already begun addressing the issue of native customary rights (NCR) land by allocating RM30 million this year and the same next year to carry out a survey compared to RM20 million last year.
"They (opposition) should wake up to the reality that the government does not sideline rural residents in connection with their ancestral land," he said.
Muhyiddin turned the table on the opposition's spin that the country's top two leaders were in town because the BN was losing ground and had lost confidence in Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.
"That is normal. What is Lim Kit Siang doing? Anwar Ibrahim is here for 10 days, why? (He) does not go back. Does he no longer trust Baru Bian?
"We are a component of the BN, four of the components are in Sarawak. Is it not logical for the Prime Minister as the BN chairman and I, as the deputy chairman, to come down and help?" he said.
Lim, the DAP adviser, and Anwar, the de factor leader of Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), have been holding ceramahs since last week. PKR president Datin Seri Wan Azizah Ismail had gone ahead to name Baru Bian, who is contesting Ba'Kelalan, as the party's chief minister designate.
Earlier in the day, Muhyiddin spent time in Bintangor where he assured the people that the government was fully committed to uplift their livelihoods and asked them not to be duped by the opposition.
A chartered helicopter crashed at Dataran Sibu in Sibu after unloading three aides of Muhyiddin upon their return from Bintangor. The pilot, who was the only one left inside, was rushed to Sibu Hospital with serious injuries.
Chief Minister Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, who is the BN state chairman, took time off to campaign for the Sarawak United People's Party (SUPP) in Miri where deputy chief minister Tan Sri Dr George Chan is defending the Piasau seat.
"When you go to the polls, don't listen to the words of poison. I feel a lot of poisons in the air with the coming of outside (opposition) parties. Let us keep Miri clean," he said when launching the Imperial Palace Hotel owned by local developer, Boulevard Group of Companies.
Taib and Dr Chan, both in their 70s, have been targeted by the opposition despite both having stated that this would be their final state election.
Dr Chan went on attack against the DAP, saying while he already had a succession plan in mind, the DAP had only dynasties following Lim Kit Siang, chairman Karpal Singh and the Chongs in Sarawak, referring to state DAP founder Chong Siew Chiang and his son, Chong Chieng Jien, who is the state DAP secretary.
The DAP is banking on this election to oust the SUPP as the representative of the Chinese community.

tunku : actually opposition is afraid of Najib's presents in Sarawak. they know that majority of Sarawakians supports Najib. they are telling people PM don't trust Taib but they forgets that their top leaders are in Sarawak since nomination day till the end because they actually don't have faith in their so called CM to be Baru Bian. even the local pakatan leaders dont have faith in him and some are saying that they did not endorse baru bian as their leader. Anwar just named him just to get the Native votes but the Natives in Sarawak are smart as they too know who is Baru Bian.he's just a great liar(lawyer).

Christian Dilemma Not Over, Clerics Tell Putrajaya - By Debra Chong.

Posted: 11 Apr 2011 03:48 AM PDT

With six days to polling in Malaysia’s most Christian state, clerics reminded Putrajaya it still has a long way to winning back trust from the religious community’s voters who feel their freedom to worship has been curtailed the past 30 years.

Church leaders told The Malaysian Insider that the federal government’s latest move lifting a recent restriction order on Alkitab marked only the first step forward in what they see as a laundry list of issues that have plagued Christians here for the past three decades.

Catholic priest Father Michael Chua said the Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) — which represents over 90 per cent of churches here — had previously made clear that the issue of the Malay bible was only one of the problems the community had faced with the federal government.

We had said that we leave it to the importers to make a decision based on their circumstances and context,” he told The Malaysian Insider today, responding to Home Ministry secretary-general Datuk Seri Mahmood Adam’s statement on behalf of the government yesterday.

Mahmood said The Gideons had agreed to collect its shipment of what it had previously denounced as defaced Malay bibles from Kuching, once the ministry had invalidated the seal on all 30,000 books.

The Bible Society of Malaysia (BSM), which had its 5,000 bibles subjected to similar action has since collected its shipment, which it said would be made into reminders of the government’s treatment of Christians.

Chua, who represents the Catholic Archbishop of Kuala Lumpur in ecumenical and interreligious affairs, pointed out that CFM had yet to decide on the Cabinet’s 10-point initiative to resolve the dilemma on Christians.

We are still in consultation with all stakeholders,” he said in his text message reply. “The importers taking delivery does not change the status quo.

Rev Thomas Phillips who is a vice-chairman of the CFM, said the umbrella body would discuss the 10-point formula at its annual meeting on April 14.

The Alkitab is only one of several issues,” the Mar Thoma priest told The Malaysian Insider. “They must prove their sincerity.”

Phillips, who also heads the Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism and Taoism (MCCBCHST), said the issue had been manipulated by various parties to score points in the Sarawak elections.

They are using this to gain political mileage for Sarawak polls,” he said, adding the need for CFM to proceed with caution in dealing with the government.

We also don’t know what they mean when they say they will stamp ‘invalidated’ on the bibles,” he said.

The Home Ministry’s move to seize and stamp the holy books in Kuching and at Port Klang without the importers’ consent marked the tipping point for Christians nationwide, who said they were fed up after years of having their religious rights being violated.

Putrajaya scrambled for solutions to defuse the Christian anger ahead of the Sarawak state elections, to prevent a possible backlash against the ruling Barisan Nasional (BN) government, which has held the reins since Sarawak became part of Malaysia in 1963.

Sarawakians will go to the ballot box on Saturday, a week ahead of Easter, the most important celebration in the Christian calendar.
